lubrication of three point hitch

I have two grease fittings on my B2650's three point hitch. What additional places on the three point hitch should be lubricated, and with what.

The link "balls" are exposed, and could get real dirty in a hurry. I would put a dab of grease on each one, but that would seem to make it a "dirt magnet". The other thought that I had was to use Never-Seez or something like that, but I am not sure that it would be a good idea.

Thoughts?

Spray them with PB Blaster or Liquid Wrench it they get sticky. The grease is not a good idea.

I have always used a spray silicone lube on three point hitch parts, dries quick, no residue to attract dirt.

Thank you for your replies. I didn't think grease was a good idea, and now that has been confirmed. I will go with the spray silicone, and perhaps I will never need the penetrating oil.

The local bicycle shop will have some synthetic wax based products for bike chains. They go on as a liquid but dry up and leave the lube behind. Bike chains have the same problem as the joints on the 3 pt hitch, oil and grease pick up dirt, wax usually doesn't.

I use gear oil, rotate the ball and wipe the excess. Never an issue.

I just put a thin coat of motor oil in the link balls and pins. wipe excess off with bounty, when they get dirty, them off with bounty.

bike chain wax is an interesting idea. I ride a bike a lot, never liked most of the bike chain lube products, too viscous and gooey, higher drag, hard to clean after a few hundred miles. I found the best thing on a bike chain is vegetable oil. stays cleaner, easier to clean, less drag, maybe that’s what I’ll put on the 3 pt next time.

Amsoil heavy duty metal protector works good for that. Sprays on liquid and dries like wax. Doesn't attract dust.

Yes, it is very use for a clean lube, furniture polish, lip balm, when placing screws into hardwoods use to lube the screw, to prevent rust on cooking utensils that are only used seasonally and candles. There are a ton of things to use it for that many people overlook. And you can eat/ chew it like gum.

Thinking about it, don't believe I've ever used anything on my lift arm balls ever. I know the lower ones get an occasional 'lubing' from the hydraulic fluid that drips down from the disconnects when I change out implements. Other than that, I never have.

Back end of my tractors get progressively 'munged up' as the year goes on from switching implements out. Every switch entails removing and reattaching hydraulics and the connectors always drip.

By fall, the back end needs a good power washing....

Fluid Film. I spray the 3-point balls about once a year with it. It penetrates then congeals into a waxy film, lubes well, and doesn't seem to attract much dirt.
