Has anyone tried putting a fuel gage or low level indicator on the older B models? I have a 1979 B7100 I would like to either add a fuel gage or low level light. The tank is so discolored, you can't see the fuel level without lifting the hood and looking in the tank. I have replaced a pricey sender with a marine generic fuel sender on one of my Wheel Horses. It cost less than $20 for the sender, but was fairly easy since the standard VDO flange was already in the top of the tank. So, if I go this direction, I will have to cut a hole in the top of the Kubota tank for the sender flange and mount a compatable gage somewhere on the dash. Does anyone have a better idea?

u must be a young fellow.LOL yes lawn tractors, outboard tanks, aircraft,
model t fords, ect had them. that was before the elevtronic age. the L series
of bota,s have a hole in the hood so u can fuel up without opening the
hood. make a hole in your hood. as a side note, if y have rust in your tank,
check the cost of a new tank. ouch u say, even worse, they tell u no longer availible. my L1500 tank same as L175 is $700 and no longer availible. see my first post as to what i did. POR brand makes a motorcycle tank repair
kit that will stop the rust before it,s to late. i used it after i welded a new
bottom on my tank to stop rust on the rest of the tank. the japs aloy
all there parts with gold, and the price reflexs it.

LRP, if being born in 1947 is young, then I am guilty. LOL No, the B7100 has a plastic tank. I have the level indicating caps on my older Wheel Horses and I don't want to raise the Kubta hood or cut a hole in it to see the fuel level. I would really like to clean my old plastic tank so I could see the level, but I don't think it will clean. I will probably adapt a fuel level indicator of some type.
if the tank used to be clear enough to see the fuel level when new,
u should be able to use 600 up to 1000 grit sand paper on the inside and outside. the will no give u optical clarity, but u should be able to see the fuel
level. another option is to drill 2 holes on the vissible side of the tank and install 2 90 deg bulkhead fittings with a hose. or check the hydralic shops,
they have oil level indicators that bolt on the side of the tanks. how to install
one of these my be a chalange.

Simple fix. Just fill it up every time you use it. It's hard to sit on a B model long enough in one day to run a whole tank out.
Thanks for the inputs. I think I will try scouring/sanding to see if I can get any view of the level. I'll let you know how it goes.

I fill my B7100 after each use. I have never had to refill during a day of operation. Even under load brushhogging, after 3 hours I don't think it took a gallon. My tank is so dark I can't tell the level even with a light shining down the fill hole. I am just going to keep filling it after each use. I have seen one painted blue with the frame paint and thought it looked nice, planning to do that to mine when I paint it this spring.
