Ok guys, my wife has had the camper bug for a while now. We found one we really like. Probably gonna be taking delivery of it Friday or Saturday.

The camper happens to be 31 feet long. We had our 16ft trailer out Saturday night to help our sons girlfriend move. When pulling in the driveway, I happened to realize "that little bell rung" that we don't have the clearance to make it in the yard with even a 25ft trailer. with out dropping one side into the ditch. It's mainly the issue of living on a narrow road. It wouldn't be too much of an issue if we still had the old truck. But the new one is longer, with the turning radius of a school bus.

I'm looking for a fast cheap option to be able to get the camper in and out of the yard safely. I already know I need to move the mail box.

Here's what I'm working with. Current width is 20ft. I have an 75ft oak blocking me from being able to swing onto the lawn to complete the turn. Road is a dead end with no turn around big enough to turn the camper around to come in from the other way. Backing in is even tighter. Plus camper is gonna be stored out back. And trying to back an 8 ft wide camper through a 9.5ft gate opening would be a little rough

Here's picks of the end of the drive.

something to lay over the gap on that side to widen it....... hmmm... How much do you like your mother in law?:D

?? piece of couple inch steel plate for now. Stuff like the highway department uses when they need traffic to flow over a construction hole?

?? Disconnect trailer in best location then with a front and or rear mounted ball on your tractor, Jocky it in with tractor.

Maybe some heavy steel plate with angle welded underneath so it will catch inside the concrete opening and not slide. Kinda like a loading dock plate.

Those were things considered. Going to check with the county and a couple culvert places. Got a call from another member who had a great suggestion. My culvert is 36" round and had to special order it. If I can locate a five foot piece of one locally, i can drop it in and butt it to the other culver and cover with gravel. There's a gravel pit 1/4 of a mile from the house, and I could run up there with a trailer :)

I have a driveway much like yours, but the grass cutting is the issue with mine......another long story..... but

Could you place large rip-rap in the ditch line.......about 10 wide, then place gravel over top and then soil later? I know that might be $$$ but the problem would be solved for good - and the water would still drain , unless you have a huge water flow typically ......

congrats on the RV - use it!!!!

We plan on using it :) called the local culver places. Found a five foot piece to drop in where the sides are poured. Gonna line it up with the end of the existing one and put a load of gravel in to hold it in place.

We have a huge water flow issue. That's why it has a 36" round culvert and has been concreted on the sides. ;)

I was thinking maybe some 4x12s side by side,, we use to run a 29 ton shuttle car over them with out issues,, But you way is a much better way of doing it and will look a bunch neater as well

TJunkie, Skeets idea might be wise in combination with what your planning. Long enough 4x12's dropped into the ground will help spread the load so the culvert is not taking it as much.

I did notice after the fact - you have water in it now! SO the extra piece will be the best idea - what that piece of concrete gonna run ya???

Not a concrete culvert. Galvanized ;) 200$ for the piece of culvert. $20 bucks in stone for 2.5 ton :) I got raped on the piece of culvert, but it was the only piece within 40 miles, so beggars can't be choosers.

Packed it in with the truck. Probably gonna need another ton of rock to get it smooth. But it will work for now. Got a couple of trees that will need to be trimmed back some in the back yard. But that's minor.

Total out of pocket was $243

Only thing i would have done is hand mix a couple pails full of ceement to fill in the joint between two pipes, high water usuall means big flow. Will take pipe downstream if it undermines and washes out

I trust you know that corrugated pipe needs full firm earth all around, not just on top. If not supported at the lower thirds, there could be some unwanted distortion there with a heavy load crossing. Without that full "bedding" it is pretty weak stuff in bending of the corrugations. Otherwise in ring compression it can take a lot of load.

Yup, I shucked gravel in around it with a tamp bar as I was filling it in.

Tj, it's gonna be concreted at a later date :)

Down the road you could always form it up and pour concrete instead of the stone to dress her up nice. I'm sure you could find a kid or two to mix the mud for you :D
