Hi
I have a kubota B8200 lots of oil is spraying out the breather pipe connected to the top of the engine, I think its hydro oil as my hydro tank is empty after filling and the front loader has stopped working. The dipstick hole is also leaking oil
Any ideals mechanic reckons it the rings.

The engine seems to run ok no knocking or miss firing

If your engine is overfilled and fluid is running out of the dipstick hole its more likely your hydro pump seal has failed and is pumping hydro oil into your motors crankcase.

Second the seal!;)

And if your "mechanic" thinks it's rings... you need a new mechanic and he needs to get a new line of work.

I agree, I had the same thing happen to me. The seal on the hydro pump failed and filled the engine with hydro oil emptying the trany. Time for a new pump and mechanic.

Good luck.

Many thanks for all the quick replies,
can I just buy and replace the seal?
Is it an easy job? For someone with very limited mechanical experience
Will I need anything other than basic tools.
Anyone know the seal part no. and the pump part no.

Cheers

Do you ever check engine oil level before starting engine? To renew hyd pump oil seal pump will require removal from engine. You can look the seal up on Kubota parts site.

Hi

I've got a new seal does anyone have any tips, tricks, pictures or links on how to get the hydro pump off and replacing the o rings and seal??

I've read it's tricky getting the pump out as it hits the frame...

Cheers

Hi Adam

I think I have just developed the same problem.

Engine on my L245 runs really sweetly on tick over but when I put a few revs on it, it pukes oil from breather and dip stick says it is over filled.

Not had tractor long so don't know where everything is yet.

Where is the pump for the hydraulic fluid and how do I check the level.

Can anybody help please.

Thanks Adam

I've just had a search around and found a download of a manual for the L245 (my unit) on http://www.tractorforum.com/manuals/

Had to register first but it gives exploded diagrams etc. It may be useful for your needs even if not exact.

It seems as if the hydraulic pump is driven off the fuel pump assembly. I'm now beginning to doubt my diagnosis but won't know until I get it off I suppose.

Please post up any hints or tips when you do your job.

Well the full story is:
I was using it all day (a hot Day)
It started spraying liquid out the breather so I stopped.
A local mechanic said it was the Head gasket as the rad was empty
filled it started it with rad cap off bubbled like mad then water disappeared
So he put a new head gasket on removed the valves lapped them in, flushed engine, new oil filter and oil, re-filled the hydro oil.
engine sounded sweet ran OK till we revved it then it sprayed loads of fluid out the top breather
The diesel was still full but the hydro tank was empty agan.

Mechanic said it was the piston rings and did a runner....

I've replaced the hydro seal.........where are thses oil rings?

Many thanks Adam

If your engine is overfilled again with hydro oil the pump is not sealed. You need to take the tractor to a shop that knows what its doing before you damage your engine if you haven't damaged it already.
The "rings" people are talking about are on the pistons inside the motor but if they were worn that bad you wouldn't have enough compression for it to even start.

I've not been using the tractor just running it for 1-2 mins max to see if the new seal fixed the problem. It started fine first time a little white smoke that cleared. Engine sounded ok.

I will remove the hydro pump and make sure the seal is still in position.

hydro oil wise is HM32 ok to use?

If this don't work I will take it into the shop some 50miles away..

Cheers

I really worry when two catastrophic events take place at the same time!
A major loss of coolant and possible overheating can do some serious damage, but then add in filling the motor with hydraulic fluid and you have now complicated the problems immensely!

The oil rings are on the pistons, there are usually 2 compression rings and one oil ring on each piston.

Here is what I would do at this point:
Check the radiator level, check the oil level, check the hydraulic level.
Start the tractor, pull the radiator cap and check for bubbles, if you have Bubbles you either have a cracked head or block, or (rarely) another bad head gasket.
If no bubbles let the tractor run for about 5 min stop check oil and hydraulic levels, if no obvious change then restart and run for 15min repeat, if still no change run for hour+ and get it really warm!
With flooding the engine with both hydraulic fluid and water it's possible that the rings have just lost their seat, and running it and getting it real warm will help them reseat.
If after hour plus of running the engine it still has not improved then a major rebuild is in your future, I would even suggest finding a different motor for it, as with the overheating it could have done extensive hidden damage to the motor.

Hi, having problems with my Hydraulic pump on B8200 as well but Wolfman has been hanging tuff with me so far so here is my way of taking pump off. It has three nuts wich is simple to take off but the back one has a nutted stud. I double nutted the stud and backed it out. And installed the pump the same way.
