I have a Bobcat S185 with a Kubota V2003T

It started smoking a few weeks ago, I took it to the Bobcat dealer and
they checked the Compression, it checked good.
So they checked the injectors, they checked good.
At this point I owe Bobcat $425 for troubleshooting

The manager there said that the Turbo wasnt spinning freely......
And he gave me a price on a new turbo,,,,,$2000 installed....no thanks I said.

I found a turbo for a bit less and installed it myself...started the machine and Tons of black smoke pouring out still..
I dont know what to do now. Any Ideas?

Did you buy your own fuel or could someone have doctored it up on you? has it lost power or miss? handy

I bought the fuel where I always buy it, same place i get fuel for my trucks,
Havent really noticed any loss of power, havent really used the machine much since it started smoking.
If the dealer checked the injectors and he said he even put a new set in and it did the same thing so he took them out, and put my old ones back in, where does that leave me? an injector pump?

I don't know much but I've learned white smoke means oil is burning.
black smoke means improper combustion.

My neighbor has bob cat and he is having white smoke problem. I mean a lots of white smoke.

and you have black smoke problem...

How about engine governer. Isn't it controls fuel input~???

Good luck. and let us know what was the problem...

Joe.

Change or clean the air filter. A clogged air filter will cause the engine to run rich, possibly causing the black smoke. I diesel needs to breath freely.

All new filters, no improvement. Back to the bobcat dealer we go, maybe they can figure it out this time.
Oh man, I was thinking a really bad air filter too. Sorry to hear about that. I hope the dealer doesn't hit you too hard in the wallet :(

Well , the dealer didnt want to work on my machine anymore... but he had a spare injection pump that he gave me, as I was studying it, I realized that early in the game as we were trouble shooting we loosened the fuel lines to ck for fuel flow, and one of the fittings on the pump had moved....well thats what caused all the smoke. and there was never anything else wrong. Just a pump that had been slightly adjusted.
After all this I have decided that I will never buy another bobcat product, their customer service has been a real let down...

Could this problem be caused by a fuel return line blockage?

Black smoke is usually a signal that there's too much fuel, not enough air or injector pump timing is off.
