Lost dipstick plug

I developed a oil leak on my M8540 today.
After a lot of cleaning and searching I discovered I lost the plug out of the block for the right side dipstick option.
Any idea of size or options to plug this hole with out waiting on special order parts ?

A golf ball Tee should suffice until you get the correct plug.

I tried but the hole is about 1/2 in and i'm worried I might lose it in the hole.
I'm attaching a couple of pictures I took, there is tape over hole because of rain.

Make like Jed Clampett, get a knife and whittle a stick to size and make a temporary plug and tap it in. When you get the right plug you can put a screw in it to make it easier to extract it

Hardware or farm and fleet stores like TSC have rubber plugs that will fit it.

But the tape idea is fine if your not running it.

If you have a rubber hose with the same od as the hole id thread a screw into the hole in the hose, I had the same problem last year on my Bx2660

I did not recall the dipstick tube on an M was that large, most engines are are approx 10mm.

Thanks for all the input.

While I like the well nut / hose idea, at that size and location I'm worried about some thing breaking and dropping into the oil.

My uncle said "get to whittling", I would hate to lose a piece wood into the oil.

I have decided to insert a snug fitting bolt into the hole and JB Weld it in. I will first rough up the hole, then clean it. I think this is the best way to make a permanent fix without tapping the hole.

Any thoughts on this ?

E/S, can't you find a bolt that fits the hole dia. fairly close? Then just insert it and let it be. You're concerned about a piece of wood falling into your oil pan, I sure wouldn't want a chunk of JB Weld there either!
