I have a B2650. It seems not to have the power when I go into a pile of dirty or digging with the BH. Small bites it seems ok. All fluids are full. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

What’s your RPM’s? Do the RPM’s decrease when digging like it’s struggling? Is this a new issue? Are you in low range pushing into a pile?

My RPMs are between 2200-2500. No they don’t decrease. They stay the same. It doesn’t seem to struggle. Just stops moving. Yes I’m
In low range when I go in to a pile Yes this is a new issue

If the RPM’s are decreasing I would say it’s a fuel issue.
How many hours on the machine? Up to date on service? Hydraulic fluid level correct?

300 hrs on the machine. The maintenance is up to date. The machine does not decrease RPMs if I’m using the BH it just stops working until I reposition the bucket. If I’m using the loader the same happens

Fluid level? Might have a faulty relief valve. I’ll let some others chime in on the hydraulic side of it.

Check the position of the three point lever.
If it is in the upper most position try moving it to center and see what happens.

Fluid levels are fine. The 3point level is in the down position. I’ll try moving the 3 point level. Thanks for the adv

While you are checking levers, make sure that all hydraulic levers (FEL, rear remotes, backhoe,…) are in their neutral position (not trying to move a cylinder). They could be locked in an operating position and needing flow that is robbing power from the transmission.

That whining could be a pressure relief valve opening and closing repeatedly and quickly.

Most describe the sound as a squeal and not a whine though.

Usually there is an active lever trying to move a cylinder that has already reached it’s limit.

But I guess it could also be a weak or broken spring in the relief valve.

That problem would cause all your reported symptoms.

Did you check all the lever positions? Can you try moving each cylinder to the middle of their range and see if the noise goes away?

Yeah. All the levers are in the middle position or neutral positions. Guess I need to get the pressure relief valve looked at. Thanks for all the help and advice

Does the FEL operate correctly and with full power?

In fact you may just try disconnecting the backhoe and then reseating the disconnects. The disconnects may be partially disconnected or just not allowing the proper flow. Have you recently ins the backhoe or had the hoses disconnected?

You can start with more diagnostic tests if you want to try to repair it yourself. That would be getting a pressure test done at the backhoe connection point. That requires a gauge and some fittings and probably a short hose for connecting to the tractor.

I would also call on @TheOldHokie to make any suggestions for diagnostic tests. I recall he just made some suggestions for the test above so will see if I can locate that thread and link it here.

Well that was much easier to find than I expected.

Here is that thread, see post #13 for test instructions

For loss of digging forcec basic diagnosis starts with a pressure test at the backhoe outlet on the tractor.

Issue as the BH.
