Hello everyone, and greetings from Norway!

I`m looking at buying a B7000D, and having no previous experience with these small tractors, I`ve found your excellent forum. I`ve tried to find my answers here, but no luck so far. I have just accumulated alot of other useful information! :D

The owner of the one I`m looking at now has no clue of the technicalities, because he`s only had it for 9 months now, and hardly used it..

My questions are: Do they come with more than one PTO? Only rear, or do they have possibilities of mid/front PTO?
And is it easy to fit more hydraulics?

I have a background as car mechanic and train engineer, so fixing mechanical, electrical and pneumatic stuff is no problem. But I`m not that much used with hydraulics, even though I own a beaten up Takeuchi 1,2 ton digger.. Been fixing that one a lot, with new gaskets, pistons and hoses in the hydraulics. But I haven`t looked at expanding the hydraulics yet.

I`ve read about Grey market, but does that only happen in North America? There are alot of machines using Kubota engines here in Norway, but I have no experience in buying parts for them. For my digger I have the Norwegian dealer close to me, and so far they`ve had all parts in stock for the old 80`s Takeuchi... Hoping it`s the same with Kubota. :)

Rear PTO is 3 speed. Front is on the crankshaft. Sorry, I can't help you the hydraulics.

Grey Market can happen in any country.... though it may be called something beside grey in different countries. The list of what is Grey in one country is not grey in another. All Grey means is that the unit was not designed nor intended to be sold in a particular country. Most of all that means (if its legal to own) that dealers and part places in that country will know nothing about the unit and may well have no parts listings for it since they never planned to run across them.. or better said the corporate office assumed they never would thus no parts listings ever were printed in the language of the country and thusly never anything even distributed about the unit in the country.

Yes the B7000 Is a grey market tractor to everyone except main land Japan, and even there they would kill you in taxes to own it.

Your going to have a heck of a time finding any manuals specifically for the B7000's, I know of none that were printed in English and have only heard of a tidbit of information on it and available parts.

Allright guys, thank you very much for all of the information! It`s very helpful, so it looks like there will be no problem so far. I`ve asked the owner for a picture of the underside of the tractor to see if there is anything to see there, but he had broken one of his feet, so it could take a while. I`ll see if I can get a picture of the functions under the seat aswell!

Hello again!
I picked up my Kubota March 17th, and have been tinkering abit with it for the past weeks. It had really thick and black oil, so I started with that. And it has abit of smoke coming, so I figured it needed a little internal cleaning. It hasn't been running much lately, so I haven't been able to let it work hard and blow out some of the crap. But today it has been running for a few hours and really shown its power. It work great mechanically and has lots of power. But it still has some smoke coming All the time. Doesn't smell like oil, just diesel smoke. Dark grey. It doesn't always start easy, even when warm. It takes about 5- 10 seconds of cranking before it starts.

The previous owner said the decompression was the way to stop the engine. Could that have done something to it?

Another thing I've been wondering about, is the combination of engine and drivetrain. It's a 2 sylinder, B7000D? Shouldn't that have a 3 sylinder engine?

Will post some more pics in a moment.

Could also be the cause of some of the carbon build up you're noticing.
Thanks, maybe that is the reason why then. And I don`t know for how long that has been done..
I`m not using the decompression though, I just push the trottle all the way back. I have a Takeuchi mini digger with a 3-syl Yanmar in it with decompression too, so I knew that wasn`t the way to stop it.

As to trying to clean the engine up internally, I changed the engine oil right away when I got it, then let it run for a while with that, changed oil again and also oil filter this time. Then ran it a while again, and also later added some cleaning fluid to the oil and in the diesel. Then changed oil again after it had run a little while again as instructed by the cleaning fluid. Then again, I changed oil and filter after another little run, just to let it be sure to get properly flushed. I also checked the tank and changed the fuel lines, dieselfilter and air filter now. Next thing to do on the engine is adjust the valves, can`t wait to see how it looks on the inside.

Have lubed up som lube points, and checked the hydraulic fluid. That looked pretty clean, The only hydraulic in use on it is the 3 point hitch. But not knowing the hours on the tractor, I still want to change this soon. And the rest of the fluids in the gears/hubs.
Anything else that should be checked?

roverbug, was it painted the light gray to hid it in the snow??:D

That "lid", if I understand what you're referring to is a pin you front axle pivots on. They usually have a bushing on each end. You'd need to look at a parts book to be sure.

roverbug, that is a beautiful machine! It seems to have been cared for pretty well, except perhaps for oil changes. However, you will notice that the motor oil in diesels turns black just moments after pouring it into the engine! :D

That may clear up the smoking. If not, it may be a diesel pump timing issue. Diesel tractors will tolerate a lot of neglect, but as you learned in the decompression thread, they suffer with improper decompression, and they also suffer from all fuel problems (timing; quality; moisture; excess).

I`ve got a small ATV-trailer, that I have been using behind my mini-digger, but it`s to week to drag it uphill with much load. So the Kubota is handy now for the trailer. The trailer mount is mounted in the rear box, but I want a proper mount later.

And that`s when I found out that it looks like the rear lower links of the 3pt have been cut and shortened, sine other appliances doesn`t seem to fit...

And thanks for the Kubotabooks-link, I have read myself up on the instruction manual, which in turn made me wonder about the engine/drivetrain combo.
It says in the instruction that the B5100D has 2syl engine, 2 speed pto and smaller wheels than the B7100D. I have 2 syl engine, 3 speed pto and large wheels. And the rest looks like B7100D aswell... Anybody seen this before?
