Have an old home made log splitter that has been dormant for several years. The Old Briggs fired up no problem & I split 5-6 logs everything was fine....Several days later I noticed the ram was extended about 8 inches I went to start the motor & it was locked, as with the handle to move the ram forward & backwards. I took a log & gently whacked the handle & freed it up...I heard some gurgling in the oil reserve tank, but the pump will not turn...I put a pipe wrench on the shaft still won't move.....Stopped..... looking for advise....Would appreciate any help Thanks

Maybe back off one of the oil lines and see if the pressure is relieved and the pump can turn over.

Well... That's my intention to crack open a fitting....but freeing the back & forth control valve should have relieved the pressure or is there somewhere else I should look for - Eye protection....great suggestion.....Thanks
