I keep forgetting (my age I guess) that I bulk load my grease guns from my air greaser and I don't use cartridge grease. Gave up on them long ago. Nothing better than running out of grease in the middle of a grease job. With a clear barrel, I can see what is left and I know when I'm low.

I dislike changing cartridges anyway, always messy. Bulk loading is no mess.

I am not in a race but remember that I am a few years older than you, and yes I grew up farming.

You just pull the handle out until it reached the spring and you immediately know how much grease is in the gun. I've been doing that for years, and yes I filled many grease guns before cartridges. Stick it in the 5 gallon bucket and suck it up.
