Location of Safety Switches L3010

I am trying to bring back my L3010 that was damaged by fire in transport. The fire damaged the left rear of tractor. I have most things squared away but it does not start (or even turn over). I did the obvious (battery and ground cable cleaned). I had a new key switch on hand and replaced it. My next step is to start tracing wirers. I am starting with the safety switches. My plan is to bypass the switches to see if if runs before I spend money on parts. The WSM wiring diagam shows only two swithes--PTO and HST safety switches. I located the PTO safety switch. I am trying to locate the SWITCH, SAFETY H - TA240-53900. I have both the WSM and the diagrams from the parts site and both are pretty useless for pointing out where the "HST Switch" is located. Does anyone have a suggestion?

The wiring diagram for the cab (that I do not have) in the WSM is more helpful. It shows the wire colors. It looks like I can ground the white wire from the starter relay to bypass the two safety switches. I'll try that this when I have some time to test it out before replacing the switches. LOL-of course I have to first find the HST switch. Any hint as to where the HST safety switch is located is greatly appreciated.

I have the original printed one from Kubota that I purchased when I bought the tractor. The image posted above is from the online version available from kubotabooks.

There is nothing near the pedal that I can see. Looking at videos for later models, it looks like there is an externison of the linkage that presses the switch. I think it could be behind a metal "bell housing" at the base of the center column, bolted to the floor. I'll try to separate that if grounding the starter relay works. I hestitate doing that because I may need to separate the clutch and brake pedal linkages to pull that fully out. It's a lot easier to get to the starter relay to test if providing an artifical ground to it (bypassing the safety switches) allows starting.

You should find it mounted onto #10 in the pdf. It is located on the LH side of the tractor, just ahead of the rear axle housing.
The second pdf shows the switch (#100) mounting to the plate.

I had an L4610, a bit larger than your L 3010 but the same series and many of the same components. As I recall there should also be a seat safety switch on these tractors in addition to the ones you are checking. Should be shown somewhere in the the shop manual.

I don't see a seat switch. I couldn't find in the manual nor on the L3710 tractor I have.

Guess I'm getting old and forgetful! We had the L and a BX... the BX for sure had the seat switch, my recollection was the L would also cut the engine if the seat lifted. True confession: I bypassed the switches anyways. Good luck with your repairs. Those 10 series L's were and are really good tractors.

The seat switch may have been added in later years. I haven’t run my L3010 in 4 years (since the catastrophic transport) but my memory is that it needed to be in neutral, PTO disengaged to start. So I could start it from the ground. My L3710 requires PTO disengaged, clutch depressed to start. It can be in gear.

I found the safety switch! It is easily accessible from the rear of the tractor near the 3pt lift arm. Sure enough, when the shift range lever is in neutral, the plunger is depressed (closed). If any range is selected (L-M-H), the plunger is not depressed (open). There is not any such switch on the L3710 hence the different starting requirement. There isn't one in the same place on the L3710. I'll look for it on the 3710 this weekend, just out of curiousity.

One good thing about having a 3010 and a 3710, most parts are interchangable. This makes testing out components like switches and relays easy by swapping rather than replacing. I bought a L3710 to replace the burned up L3010 becasue I liked the series and it was available. Plus, I could use the same backhoe and subframe on it. I also moved the LA480 loader over to the 3710. That took a little modification but it is working fine. I plan to use the burned up L3010 as a permanent backhoe machine and the L3710 for 3pt equipment.

She's alive!

Almost four years idle since her bad "suntan", she started right up--rough at first until I purged the air out of the fuel line. The only part I changed so far is the fuel filter. One thing that was annoying is that the wire colors did not map to WSM diagram but it was easy enough to figure out. It is running amazingly smooth.

I installed my new frugal yankee/southern redneck seat to test the drive. It moves-both directions! Now it is time for parts.

I need a tire, size R4 420/70R24 to match the other side. They seem to be unobtainium. As you can see, I also need some plastic dash parts, a seat and some rattle cans of paint. Now that I know it runs, I can can go shopping.

It's funny. It killed me when I got my first scratch. This tractor is the only thing I ever bought new. Now I love the look of the lady brought back from the dead. She has character.

Does anyone know of a tractor salvage yard in the AL, GA, MS, TN area?

Thank you. I suspect that shipping from Canada or driving 2000 miles round trip to pick up may negate the cost advantage.

Kubota seemed to have switched to 17.5-24 sized tires with the same size front tires. If I have to buy two, that size is more readily available.

I am trying to find a salvage yard near by, hoping to get some of the plastic housing parts too.

Thank you so much to the OP for asking and to the people that actually responded to the question being asked Tomorrow I'll see if I can find the HST switch on mine. I still don't know where the PTO switch is hiding
