Loader level rod

So I’ve been looking at attaching a loader level rod. So I made one out of aluminum flat stock and when heated was just flexible enough to make a good level. You’ll see what I mean in the pics.

On my LX 2601 the rod is not marked like yours and hard to see, I guess I will paint a mark on it.

It seems my factory level rod when it is in the detent angle on the rod has the bucket lip very high not level with the ground. Am I doing something wrong?
