I have the L4701 tractor and LA765 FEL. Not sure which bucket to get:
1. The standard light duty one, L2236
2. L2235A square back
3. L2296 round back

I expect the L2236 is a bit flimsy but cannot find any specs for bucket weights.
Any advice is welcome. Thanks

I don't have any of them but I like # 1&2 because the top is parallel to the bottom. Use it as your indicator.
#3 doesn't have that reference.

I have (and like) the L2296 round back.
Material seems to slide out/not stick/dump cleaner than a square back.

I found these reported weights:

L2235-----247 lb. square back.

L2296-----400 lb. round back (sturdily built bucket)

L2236 -----323 lb. light mtl. bucket= more cu ft.
Best for dry feathers, and popped pop corn.

I agree with @fried1765 and I too, have the 2296. It's the HD bucket, add the bolt on cutting edge as it's already drilled for it. These buckets take a real beating sometimes.

I have the light material bucket on my LA535. There isn’t a single thing that I have tried to do, that it doesn’t do. It was recommended by the dealer. It has a bunch of extra space and I have had it filled to the top with everything from #2 stone for driveway, crush/run, top soil, fill dirt, and manure. The dealer also installed a piranha tooth bar.

Maybe there’s something I’m missing about the HD bucket?

Editing: here is some more info on the buckets.

L2235 72” Square Back Bucket
10.9 cu. ft. Struck, 13.1 cu. ft. Heaped

L2296 72” Heavy Duty Round Back
10.9 cu. ft. Struck, 13.1 cu. ft. Heaped
(Pre-Drilled for Opt. TL1748 Edge)

L2236 72” Light Material Bucket
12.7 cu. ft. Struck, 16.0 cu. ft. Heaped

Not sure why you’d get the HD bucket. Less space and heavier so lowers your overall lifting capacity.

Maybe there’s something I’m missing about the HD bucket?
Certainly tractor capability should be considered when choosing a bucket.
I strongly suspect that I could rather easily damage a light material bucket with my L48 TLB.

That makes sense. Bigger tractors could likely more easily damage the bucket.

Our local dealer automatically gets the HD bucket and edge unless the customer insists on something else. The dealer mentioned the customers come back after a while to get the rounded HD. The edge wears over time and replaces easily. Some don't like the nylox nut protrusion in the bucket, but I haven't noticed a problem. Also the rounded bucket tends to fully dump it's load vs. shaking it (and you).

I like my EA Wicked 72” bucket. I bought the entire bucket (instead of a tooth bar) because I also use my Kubota bucket. I can easily switch back & forth. I think my L4701 came with the 2235 model.

On my LX the difference between the HD and the light bucket was the capacity. Both buckets are made with the same thickness of steel....
