I am thinking about getting a four gallon battery operated sprayer strictly to spray liquid water soluble fertilizer, such as Miracle Grow for garden and landscaping plants. Has anyone used a sprayer for this purpose? Does the fertilizer dissolve enough to avoid sprayer clogging?

A few years back I used a granular fertilizer (Grashopper) that came in 50# bags. I used a 300 gal tank and mixed 2-4-D in with it. The tank has a brass spray head with multiple nozzles and had no difficulty with spraying. Hand sprayer should be no different.

When I've used either granular fertilizer or herbicides to be sprayed in my 25 gallon sprayer: Add the prescribed amount of granular product you're going to be using into a separate small container of warm water. Mix and stir that blend until all has been dissolved thoroughly. Then add that liquid to your spray tank along with the rest of the water needed and blend together either by stirring or agitation. This way you know all the product has been dissolved in the warm water before adding it into your bulk sprayer....even though it might only be 4 gallons.
