24.5’ reach.

12gpm fist size hydraulic motor. About 17hp.
20” blade.
~$600 parts less steel. Used steel from scrap pile. 3” x 1/4” wall square tubing.

Are you using the standard (non-motor) 3rd function valve? Does it give any issues stopping the chain? How are you oiling the chain?

Yes using 3rd function. Chainsaw has little rotational momentum. Reverse helps crawl out of a pinched cut.

Metering valve allows little hydraulic fluid to chain. Drop every 4 seconds running at no load speed equates to 1-2 cup per week. 5000rpm motor is about half the chain speed so less heat and oil sling off. After using can see this could be reduced to drop 15-30 seconds?

it cuts like an angry beaver. More power and faster than my Husqvarna 372xp.
Most cutting done at idle. Few at 1400rpm does have more speed and power.
Weight of the saw arm from the hinge, not the hydraulics, push the saw thru the cut. The angle of saw arm is controlled by a ratchet strap.

Thanks. I could tell by one of your pictures it was taking a big bite. I don't get that with my 50cc Makita/Dolmar . Is that stock 3/8" chain?

Stihl RS .325pitch, 0.063, 83dl. D025 blade mount has 0.475 slot for bar strength?

Modified bar to run on the left and supported saw bar cover plate are few unique features added.

Smokydog, how much does the hyd. motor weigh? What criteria did you use to choose the one you got? Do you like how it works, or would you change something about it? Is it a Parker model? Thanks.

Fist size Parker motor doesn’t weigh much. This size motor works well with this size tractor.

Haven’t adjusted oiler yet. Still busy picking up limbs ;-)

Several trees trimmed would have been hard to reach with bucket truck.

You have mad MacGyver mechanical & fabrication skills (compliment) - VERY creative and cool!

I myself would get nervous with no canopy on my tractor and "Murphy" always trying to bite me in the tail. I am a bit old school when it comes to tree work and getting under and access would be an issue in my case/woodlot. Love it though.

Most limbs fall away from the tractor. Got to be careful. Any work around trees or in the woods a canopy is a good idea.
