Lift cap question

L2502 la526 with pallet forks....will not lift 900lbs. Is this correct or a problem with hydraulics

Sounds about right. The forks probably take up 200 lbs of capacity. Then, the load probably sticks out away from the loader. That eats up more due to leverage.
Loaders are rated at the pivot pin usually.

That loader is rated for 1150lbs. So you are right t the limit out on a set of forks.

Do you have the RPMs up to at least 1500 or so? Also, have you tried curling back? Finally, what pallet forks do you have and how much do they weigh. That comes out of the lift capacity.

AND where is the loader center?

Just saying "won't lift 900lbs" is not very helpful in figuring this out-lots of variables as mentioned already.

900# is about 20 cu ft of steel, so a slab 4'x5'x1' thick, if vertical,at the pivot point and the loader MIGHT lift it

700# ( accounts for forks and frame..... is a slab 4'x4'x1', if vertical at the pivot point the loader should lift it.

it's easy to calculate what it can lift but what is your '900#' load ?

Wood pellets. Wanted to see cap so I took off 40 lbs at a time from 1000lbs. (25 bags) with 20 bags plus the pallet weight it culed it and lifted it. Pallet forks are pfl2042.

2042s are 301 lbs, fwiw.

You might be able to lift it all if you moved more of the bags of pellets closer to the pallet frame. Possibly only moving a few bags would make a difference. However, you've probably already come up with a solution.

Right question but slight dimensional correction is needed, I think. Steel weighs 0.2904 lbs per cubic inch. A cubic foot of steel (12 inches x 12 inches x 12 inches) is about 501lbs, so the 20 cu ft of steel you describe (4 feet x 5 feet x 1 foot), would weigh about 10,000 lbs. 2 cubic feet of steel would weigh something like 900 lbs. It would take one he!! of a loader to lift 20 cubic feet of steel!

And it does. Right at the pins. With forks, you are well out from the pins. Thus, reducing capacity.
For example, with just the fork frame on my 2501 loader, I could easily lift 2x2x2 bin blocks (1100 each) over 3 feet up. That is right at the pins and with only 100 lbs on the loader (fork frame). Had I put forks on and had the blocks out in front of the pins, it would have struggled and/ or failed.

I honestly didn't think it was that heavy. So I guess it IS lifting 1100 by that info.

As has been pointed out, that sounds about right.

My 2501 with the 525 loader max's out about there too. It's just the reality of physics, not a "problem with the loader".

so much for the online calculator I found.. going back to pencil and paper. pretty sure a 12x12x1" slab of steel is 44# ? maybe 42 ?
I'll guess a 40# bag of pellets is maybe 1-1.5 foot wide ? So 1.5 foot in front of the frame ?

42 # is what I get. It was a matter of 1 inch thickness vs 1 foot thickness.
