I just aquired an older M4050 With a clutch that wont disengage. I'm thinking that it has sat a long time and the clutch plate is rusted to the flywheel?
My question is the lever on the left side of the gear shift. What is it and whats it used for.. I'm looking for a manual now..

Thanks for any help..

Not sure on your model but...

Most tractors have the gear shift on the right. It generally has several positions that have two numbers at each position (one for high range/other for low range). The high/low range shifter may be a lever on the side of the transmission.

Most tractors have the PTO lever on the left. It may just have numbers on it, like 1, 2, 3. 1=540, 2=750?, 3=1000 RPM on the output shaft. Not all tractors have multiple speeds and 540 is the standard for most implements in the USA.

I tried to find some online information but could not find any clear pictures of the M4050. Take some pictures of the lever/transmission area and post them here - or someone with the same model may be able to be more certain of what they are.

2 levers on the left
High one I do believe is the PTO clutch Lever
Lower lever would be 4wd if it's a 4wd.
