Looked like that here last week then rain took a lot of it away but the rest of the week not looking good.
This is our 6th??? Snow storm this year, the rest others have done the snow rain thing, makes for some real fun snow removal!

This is the first year in 11 years up here that I've ever seen it snow then rain, our normal is once the snow falls it's still on the ground till spring.
Also the first year it snowed in September.

They are calling for rain again next week which is super out of the norm!

You might think about getting used to it.
This seems to be the norm for winter in Vermont nowadays.
We have totally bare ground for the second time this season with no appreciable snow in the short term forecast.
And there is so much water in the ground, my woods trails are muddy and inaccessible.
I imagine we will get more snow eventually but I also expect rain to precede or follow...sighhhh

No snow but our normal rainfall for January is less than 2". We have already gotten over 6". Some locations over 10". Flooded everywhere and nowhere for the water to go.

Got the plow out of the barn put it on, greased the pivots, checked the cylinders and took it off and it's sitting next to the hay barn and has been since I got it out. Guess I could plow mud, we have plenty of that. No point in even getting the blower out at this point.

The open station is heading to the dealer on Thursday for a valve adjustment, front seal and the left upper front bushing. I could do it all myself but they are slow right now so they can do it. Told Keith not to pull in the barnyard with the rollback or I'll be pulling him out with the other M9. I suspect once off the road it's down to the axles.

A buddy of mine was left a house in Florida years back when his father passed which he migrates to every winter a couple days after New Years until May which I never really understood because winter never really bothered me well until now. Every second day I go out to the garage to do a workout but just a couple days ago after walking through the freezing rain and snow on my way to the torture chamber I finally understood his need for heat and sunshine, these old bones like heat. Had a bitch of a time working up the energy to exercise, even had to pull the cover off the bike and sit there and stare at it to bring myself back around. Who knows, one of these years soon we may find ourselves joining all the other old snowbirds and migrate to the heat ourselves.

Get yourself some of those lights that make you feel like you are in the sun. After moving to Florida I went home for Christmas one year. I did not realize how much I missed the sun until I got off the plane, upon my return the funk started to lift immediately.

No real snow in our forecast, but it***8217;s going to get cold by the end of the week.

The low cost heating bill has been nice, but I***8217;m looking forward to it. Will most likely fire up the wood stove too.

This is how you load test newly built trusses and building in North Idaho, it's our new house, yes still under construction, just temp wrapped the walls for winter.
Trusses are 2x6 top and bottom cord and engineered for a 100Lb snow load, we are nowhere near that yet.

House looks great so far, and the trees look good in their "winter clothes."

Fine with me. Need some degree days and a hard freeze in the ground to kill off the bugs. My biggest enemy in the hay is leaf hoppers and I need a good winter kill to slow them down.

I'll just crank up the bio fuel stove another notch. Only been running on 2 so far, have 6 more higher heat ranges to go.
