BX2230- yes I knew it and still did it. Ran out of diesel. Instead of grabbing manual I googled and watched two you tube vids. Two other guys were showing how to start tractors when running out of fuel. Had to open the valve about the inline fuel filter and also loosen each of the three fuel injectors. Had to try and start it for quit some time and battery was getting low before fuel started bubbling out. Then it ran like crap for a few minutes and all was fine.

Ya, it is a pain in the butt to bleed the system, at least the first time it was for me. It took much longer to bleed that air out than anticipated. I don't plan on repeating it again anytime soon....until the next fuel filter change...:D

A little off/a little on. My BX25, the fuel light will come on and the gauge show one segment. Then I'll move the tractor to a slightly different incline (not much, just a few degrees) and the light will go off and the gauge show three bars. Makes me nervous. Was like this all day a few weeks back. Finally when the job was done, took the tractor to the storage spot and filled the 6.5 gallon tank. I could not put even four gallons in!!!
The moral is when working, the max the gauge can show is the actual level and if the gauge at any time shows plenty of fuel, do not get upset. At least with the little 25D

She runs like a top! I hit the glow plugs a bit and she starts with a turn or 2 of the engine every time. Now, if the land would just dry out, I could put her to some good use. It has been a wet June around here...

Well... I hate to say it... but there is another lesson that's not talked about much.

It's VERY hard on the high pressure pump to run out of fuel. The small pistons inside rely on the fuel, to keep them lubed. So... as you run out of fuel... the lube is going away, and it will start to scratch the pump bores. It's kind of like running a 2-stroke without oil in the fuel.

Just something to keep in mind when that gauge is getting low.
