I have a BX25D that is 5 years old and has 237 hours on it. Today I noticed the left front axle leaking. I heard the BX have had problems with the axle seals.

Does anyone have any idea what a dealer would charge to replace the seals? I don't have the time to get involved with it.

Would it be wise to replace the seals on the right side as well even though they are not leaking at this time?

Thanks for any information you can give.

Hi-

I recently had this done. I had both done (took both front axle assemblies into the dealer) and I think it was around $300 or $350. I don’t exactly remember.

I did it yself. Its not hard if you are mechanically inclined and have a good set of snap ring pliers. If one is leaking, the other probably isnt far behind.

If it isn't leaking badly, you might get away with draining it and refilling it with 80/90 gear oil. I have had that work on several occasions. If you decide to do it yourself, it's not a big deal. All you should have to buy are the seals. A workshop manual and an afternoon would be helpful.
