I just bought a 2008 B2920HSD in pretty rough shape and am restoring it. The other day, I drained the oil from front axles and filled it with the prescribed amount of UDT-2 from Kubota. Saw a drip from the center pivot point where the seal would be inside.

It was really hard getting the dip stick out (probably the o-ring is hardened). But I did put the stated amount of fluid so I don't think I overfilled. But it does seem suspicious that the leak started after I changed the fluid. But now there is a large puddle under the front axle case. So, looks like I need to replace the o-rings. Here is the parts layout from Messicks:

Has anyone replaced the o-rings on this or similar front axle case? Besides the o-rings (060 and 100 in the diagram), will I need to (or should I) replace the bushings (030/080) and thrust collars (040/080)? Any special tools or procedures I should be aware of? Is it difficult to remove the axle or removing the bushings? I'm assuming I'll need to remove the wheels, then the case itself from the frame.

BTW, is this front axle vented? Thanks in advance.

I believe the axle assembly is not functioning as you think.

The lubricant in the front axle is not coming out into the pivot assemblies.

Usually the leak is coming from the front drive shaft seal shown as #50

You may be right and it would be wise to plan on replacing the drive shaft seal (#050) when tearing this down. What led me to suspect the front o-ring was that I saw oil coming from the seam in the front between the front mount assemble and the axle case, not any in the back of the axle case. I think the only way for that to happen is that the o-ring has failed. But in tearing down the front axle, I will be prepared to replace any of the seals. Thanks.
