Tired of raking leaves on one acre surrounded by trees.

Anyone have a Trac-Vac 854-BX on their BX-1870? Interested in your experience with this combo. From what I've read, this PTO driven cart vacuum on a BX-1870 (13.5 PTO HP) "might" be marginal as far as power is concerned.

Any suggestions for other brands/models to look at? I want to mulch/grind up the leaves rather than just blow them around.

Thanks

I have a bx2370 that I bought a little over a year ago and was facing the same situation as you. One of the implements I purchased along with the tractor was Kubota’s grass catcher/bagger which has worked quite nicely for me so far as grass pickup is concerned. The problem I may run into is that the volume (9 bushels I believe) may prove to be pretty inadequate once the leaves start really falling and, believe me, the leaf fall here in CT is every bit as heavy, if not more so, than the leaf fall you get down there in MD (where I lived for many years, btw).

If I do see the need to replace the bagger to get a more realistic load capacity, what I would be looking at (again) is a Cyclone Rake, a pull-behind great big leaf container/bag that comes with a its own engine to assist pulling the leaves and cutting them up on their way into the bag. Volumes for the Cyclone Rake leaf bag (if memory serves) is about 30 to 50 bushels depending on the model.

You may want to follow the link below and look over their offerings, particularly as they’re having a big sale which lasts to the end of this month.

Good luck with whatever solution you arrive at.

We purchased the Kubota system with our BX1870. Although it does not use a cart, it does run a PTO driven impellor and the 1870 does not seem at all bothered running it. I would think the PTO HP requirements between the two would be pretty similar. HTH's
