You might get a discounted price if you ask him if it will bag snow. Tell him you're into a business operation. You're bagging snow to sell for weight in light pickups. He'll feel sorry for you!:D

Hi all,
First time post here after lots of research and following. I recently acquired a BX1830 which was garage kept, had all service records and about as clean as one could ask for in a machine with 600 hours on it.

I can't stand raking leaves and we have a lot of them. Plus, autumn is busy for both my wife and I making the time limited to manage the yard, so I love the idea of a vac, but have zero experience with them.

I came across a used Trac Vac 580 for a good price so I have been working on due diligence with parts availability, comparisons to other models, and online reviews. The reviews are all over the place. Some folks LOVE them, and other think they are complete POSs. I usually tune out the outlier reviews, but geesh, there are a lot.

So what should I realistically expect? Lets say hypothetically that the machine is in perfect condition, mower blades are sharp, and the leaves are dry. So ideal conditions (yeah, and unicorns graze in my yard too)... would the vac do what its marketed to do?

I have a 54" mow deck. I understand that I need high lift blades (I'm sure I'll need them) and I'll likely need a different chute (at additional $). Is that model suitable for my mower or will it just be a clogging mess?

Thanks in advance!

Trac vacs are great. Saves so much time and work. I have a Stihl backpack blower that I blow the leaves from around the house with and clean up the big areas with this. Not pretty but does a great job. I keep it hooked up all winter and do a spring clean up with it as well. We have 3 big chestnut trees and cleaning up after them is a pain. The tracvac cleans up the hulls and most of the nuts.

I use a Peco Pro 22 Lawn Vacuum Leaf Bagger 22 Cu. Ft. 10HP Briggs & Stratton 3 point. I've changed the gas engine to a 9 horse Subaru engine and I love it. The old briggs was a pain in the arse, but with the Subaru it's one pull and it's a humming away. I certainly can agree with you on the not wanting another engine to deal with , as a matter of fact I would of sold it to you three years ago but since I've changed the engine I freaking love this thing. I use mine on a L3430 cab tractor and you do have to dismount the tractor to dump , but I believe without a cab and as long as you don't over stuff the container you might not even need to dismount , cause you use a lever to activate the dump.

Thanks for the replies. Do you think with my 54" mow deck I'll have a clogging issue under normal conditions?

I have a RCK 48 deck and use the stock blades to feed my cyclone rake. The only time I have trouble is heavy wet grass.

I have only clogged mine one time in the past 5 years. Last fall I had a big pile of leaves and drove into it to fast and it clogged. Under normal mowing even while picking up those nasty chestnut hulls it has no problems. Never tried wet grass.

Again, thanks for the replies. Tried to connect with the seller this weekend and those pesky "responsibilities" got in the way.
