I've found a 50hp Kubota 4wd. The tractor and a used set of 6' discs is at the top of my current budget, but ticks all the boxes I think I need. I currently have a 4' brush hog that I use with my B7100, would it be an issue to use the 4' brush hog with the bigger tractor? (understanding that: 1) rear wheels would be wider than cut 2) using more fuel.) The reason I ask is that the large tractor and implements would be housed at the farm and available instead of trailering the B7100 there. This is with the intention of buying a 6'-8' brush hog next year. Thanks!

I'm sure you could use the four foot unit. I'm not sure the gear box on the four foot unit is rated for that much power. If you take it easy you should be fine.

If memory serves the gearbox on my 4 foot king kutter is rated up to 40 hp. If you have a good understanding of what it's capable of and don't push it you should be ok. Make sure that the shear pin is the right one if so equipped or that the slip clutch isn't rusted together.

Make sure you have enough overlap on the PTO shaft when connected to the bigger tractor. Bigger tractors have longer three point hitch arms which puts the implement farther from the tractor sometimes needing a longer PTO shaft.

Thanks! Yes, proper shear pin in and a few extra in the tool box. Looked up the specs on the gear box and it seem to be 25-60hp.

Kubotasam - that's one I didn't think of. I'll likely need a new pto shaft.

Thanks for all the input.

After my dad passed his County Line 4' brush hog was no longer needed. I now use it with my L4600 with no problems. While not efficient as my tractor will pull a bigger brush hog it was free and I only use it 3 or 4 times a year total maybe 15 to 20 hours.

I have broke with shear pin, hit a stump did not know was there.

Should be fine.
