Brilliant.

Every spring I have to spray my Hybrid Willow trees for Plagiodera versicolora ... (willow beetle)

I use a back pack sprayer but they grow tall very fast....
might borrow your concept next spring.

Do you only have to apply once per season? We started getting these in our area last year. I don’t have any tree of heaven but have those hybrid willow poplar. Not sure if the lantern bugs will find interest in them.

for Tick control I spray 3 times a year spring/summer/fall

I only spray the willows once in the spring.

We have a linden tree that is a Japanese Beetle magnet. As the tree grew, the weapons were upgraded. For years a normal garden sprayer worked. Then a big stepladder in conjunction with the garden sprayer. For a couple years the homebrew pressurized tank fabbed from an old R12 jug. I did bring a bucket truck home one year. Last time for spraying was simply using the DeWalt 20V pressure washer with a zero degree tip. The last few years I've had success with Bayer systemic stuff poured in a circle around the tree. No more spraying needed.
