Land Pride QH05 Quick Hitch and fitting implements...

I picked up a Land Pride QH05 quick hitch this morning. Went over to another dealer to see if it would fit a 48" box blade from a differnt manufacturer. Everything lined up perfectly as far as width goes, the side/bottom pins sat perfectly in the quick hitch. Only problem was the center pin with the collar on the box blade didn't sit all the way down into the top center receiving portion of the quick hitch. It' only went about halfway down into the receiving portion of the quick hitch.

My question is, is this still acceptable, or is this a problem and should I avoid this and jsut go with a different box blade that fits better, or is it not an issue since the two bottom pins are seated perfectly and lock into place on the quick hitch?

That dealership is closed now and didn't even think to take a photo when I was there. I'm heaving back there on Tuesday. They're only two miles from me. Only person there today was the office manager and the guy was clueless. That top pin with the collar on the box blade only sat about halfway down into that channel in the quick hitch. Think I may just suck it up and continue waiting for the local Kubota dealer to get the 48" box blade in stock. Been waiting a month and a half now. what's waiting a few more weeks at this point?

Without a picture or measurement hard for me to guesstimate or understand the gap you seeing.

What I would wonder is whether there is any slop between the pin and the hook to put a bushing on the pin to take up some space and fit a little better?

If I'm understanding, I think it's fine. At least, my bottom part of my hitch locks the bottom of the implement. The top won't go anywhere if it is surrounded by metal.

Note: I don't know what the QH spec requires.

There are different types of 'attachments' that are used on attachments like this U bar thing i use here on my bushhog to mate to the quick hitch. So there might be another connector to make it attach.
I also bought bushing that I put on all my implements that the quick hitch snaps onto.

Taken from the image above, this is the part of the quick hitch that's in question. The top pin with the bushing over it on the box blade sits down into this channel about half way, but doesn't seat down completely, while the two lower pins line up and do lock into place.

Well I’ve never used a box blade…so there’s that. But would think that if the pin is below the top of the hook it might stay in. If there is a chance the pin could pull back and over the hook, then I would tread lightly. I would think a ground engaging implement would need the hook to prevent the pin (implement) from rotating back. (I would not want it to pull out of the hook if it were mine)

if the hook would prevent rotation of the implement, and the lower link pins are secure I would think it should hold. Keep in mind nothing locks the top link…it’s just helps secure from rotating back by the hook…prevents the implement from flopping.

The top "hook" should be adjustable ... My old one used bolts ...

My new one uses pins ...

The QH05 has a fixed - non-adjustable - top hook. The QH16 has an adjustable top hook.
If I remember correctly it was recommended to M-Tiger to get the QH16 in another post.

Well, if it's not adjustable ... I'd make sure the top pin has as much of a bushing added to it as possible, as the hook is a lot bigger opening than the diameter of the pin, even adding a piece of pipe for the top pin to go through ...

Bingo.

Ditch the QH05. As I mentioned before, Speeco E hitch. Probably half the cost of landpride, has adjustable hook and no bushings needed.

As has been stated, the QH05 is less than ideal due to the non-adjustable top hook.

I’d look to ditch it in favor of another model that can be adjusted for various “other brand” implements.

I bought a Braber Equipment quick hitch and it has been trouble free since 2013 and was HALF the price of a land Pride. I think they are available at Tractor Supply.

I actually just bought one to put on my Ford too since all my implements are bushed for the quick hitch on my Kubota now.

Too late for that! Bought the LP QH05 last week and discovering that was probably a mistake. Even though it’s a LP quick hitch and a LP box scraper that says quick hitch compatible. It doesn’t fit the box scraper. The top hook sits to high for that top pin ok the box scraper to sit down into it.

Here's what I have now. LP QH05 and LP BB1248. From the dealer the pins done line up and the top hook on the QH05 is fixed. I'm guessing that I need to lower the hitch straps on the box scraper to the upper hole?

EDIT: Looks liek that's what I need to do. Found a YT video and took a screenshot and that's exactly what they did to get it to fit the QH05.

Fwiw, my fixed hook hasn't moved in the few years I've had my tractor. I have only Land Pride attachments. I did have to switch to bolts because the pins kept coming loose. The bolts make the top hook harder to hook up.

Some implements may have to adjust a bit to work, but if they are QH compatible, they should work with a fixed top hook.

I have to have the adjustable top hook. Most of my implements are Land Pride, but my snow blower is Kubota (RAD) and it requires a different setting. And I have some other brand implements that also require it.
You would think every manufacturer would make all cat 1 implements and hitches the same.

hahahahaha....... not a snowball's chance in Hades that would come true......
heck most CAT 1 'quick hitches ' are NOT CAT 1 compliant.
