Land Pride Implement Grapple for BX1870

I been looking at adding some implements to a BX1870 that got delivered and one of them implements I am looking at adding at some point is the Claw Grapple.

Could I use this attachment on this series or would it be too much on the unit?

Other things looking to add:

48" Box Blade
Grass Catcher
Front Weights
Rear Ballast Box

Future mods:
Radio mount
Radiator fan down ward cooling for ROPS
Battery Tender
Fuel Filter upgrade

One of the Land pride grapples, the SGC0548 is made specifically for the BX tractors, It mentions the quick hitch but I had one installed on my BX24 using the regular pins like the bucket. I don't think it will be too much for a 1870, just use your head and avoid dangerous situations.

I have one for the BX25. SCG056 I believe. I will say proceed with caution. I would not buy it again after having it. You would think it would be so great, but it has a lot of downfalls you don't realize until you have spent $2200.00 on it.

If you need to move 1 large rock. Its great. If you need to move a large and a smaller rock together...It sucks.

If you need to grab a pile of brush and move it. It works "well" If you need to move a scrap pile of lumber on a job. It sucks. -Dissimilar size objects just down work well in it. They fall out.

My suggestion would be to buy one that is a rock rake style with a grapple on it. (others have posted, I forget now though) or just mount a grapple on existing bucket.

My plan was is to use it as a helping hand with yard waste, have some back and bending issues which is why I am looking at it. But would also like to use to load yard sticks and stuff to back of truck to haul off to yard waste plant.

I have a vacant spot been putting everything at right now kind of hoping to get it semi level for when I get a couple loads of gravel and dirt (in the future).

When we purchased our place it kinda sits on top of a hill and on the side of the house it slopes down (wanting to put up a pole barn eventually) in that area. But right now just kinda stacking and moving limbs and trimmings from stuff in the yard.

See how its flat on the bottom? (and less space between the tines)
For me, I wish I had something like this after using the landpride. BUT I have not used it so take my words with a grain of salt.

I have the Land Pride SGC0548 Grapple, with the quick connect and 3rd function kit. I have to say it is absolutely awesome. I can take 20' trees, snap them into thirds, and stack the pieces and haul them out of the woods in two minutes. I've been practicing using the upper teeth as a rake, gathering branches into piles and grappling them up in large bunches. For each hour I use the Grapple, I know I save 5 hours time that would have been hard back breaking work.
Once you get practiced with it, You can pick up up many items with it. The way the head turns ( curl on the bucket) on the Grapple makes it very convenient to pick up or place things pretty precisely.
That's my .02 cents worth.

I have the Land Pride. I've had to reweld the hinges on the top and straighten the bottom tines...Even added matching pipe to the bottom to keep them straight. For the money it's a overpriced badly made implement...

But...I have tortured the hell out of it ripping apart slash piles.

I'd try the everything attachment's one...I bought their post hole digger. Just wish they had free shipping to the west coast.

If you are looking for something that 'springs' back rather than bending you might look at grapples from http://www.anbomanufacturing.com/rock-root-tree-grapples-gr-l. I have the heavy duty grapple for my Bobcat - it uses AR500 steel and occasionally rocks get forced between the tines and when you knock them out the tines just spring back to their original position. They are probably a little more expensive but they are durable.

The tubing Land Pride uses on these grapples is ridiculously thin...and only welded on one side. I added angle iron gussets to both sides and properly finished the welds.

I get that they need to keep the weight down...but this seems more like a cheap out than a design choice.

And for the money could they toss in some zerks?
