Hey yall,

neighbor gave me a free rear finish mower that sat outside for 10 years.

I changed the gear oil, greased everything and put a new Kubota belt on. Then realized the tension pulley arm had wobbled and destroyed a washer so it had a lot of movement. Replaced all those components.

No matter how tight or loose the belt is It has a hop front to back at the tension pulley. Any suggestions? It’s eaten a belt already

Sounds like there might be a spring missing. There are manuals available on the Landpride site that may be of use.

I would spin all the spindles when there is no belt on make sure no play or tight spots, then make sure pulleys are on the spindle shaft properly some are bolted depending on your model some fit on the shaft and held in by keyway and drift. Possible pulley could be bent or squeezed in

It has the spring and chain. Per the owners manual I’ve even tried to tighten up to the next loop on the chain, and it still has a front to back hop.
I’m gonna pull my belt off tomorrow and see what I can figure out. Something must be slowing the belt down and causing it to hop the spring?

Took the belt off all the pulleys spin free. Except of course, the drive pulley. Bell is Fed correctly, so I fire it back up and the belt just has a bounce front to back right at the tension pulley.

With the belt off the tension pulley can move freely front to back and then the spring just holds it tight, correct?

With the belt off the pulleys, engage the PTO and watch the drive pulley. Watch the inside edges where the belt would contact.
