Land pride box blade

Just ordered a new new box blade from my dealer, I wanted to purchase an EA box blade, but the price with the shipping cost would be about $400 more than the land pride. Hope I made the right choice!

I will be in the market for a box blade this year or next. I'm leaning towards the Woods as they appear to have the heaviest 60" option and everyone says the heavier the better when it comes to the box blade. The Land Pride BB2560 is my #2 option though.

I agree that weight can be one of the important factors when using a box blade. Like you I like the Woods models, I found Woods very pricey in my area and ended up with a Bush Hog SBX600 (60" wide) for my L series tractor, it weighs 490 lbs, the Woods 60" box blade was listed at 514 lbs. Land Pride also makes heavier models, the BB2560 is 471 lbs.

Tractor weight, traction and HP also are important factors and at the end of the day a balance has to be found between all factors.

Hi there, new user. I am ordering in a new LX2610 and looking for the heaviest box grader it can manage. I asked for the BB2560, but my dealer says it's "too much" for the LX series and is really only for the L series (despite the LandPride page saying it's matched to the LX series as well). Any comments on whether or not the LX2610 can manage the BB2560? I will be adding an L6060 to the fleet in a year or two as well, was just thinking that if I got the BB2560 it could also be used with the bigger tractor later on as well - didn't want to have to buy two graders...

I think you'll be fine. Its about 50 lbs heavier than the 1560 and has 5 scarifier shanks instead of 4.

I have a Woods 60" box blade for my LX2610 and for leveling rutted driveways it works just fine.

I have Land Pride BB1260, it is too light. I usually add 320 pounds of suitcase weights to it bringing it to roughly 650 pounds.

I inquired with EA about their extreme duty 60" box blade for tractors <30HP (4 shanks) and their >30HP (5 shanks). They said either would be fine, but suggested the 4 shank version. I will probably order the 5 shank version at some point and sell the LP.

You may want to rethink and consider a 72" BB. While 60" may work well with the smaller LX2610, you'll probably want at least 72" BB with the L6060 when you get that tractor. That said, don't know if a 72" will work with the LX2610. Just something else to think about.

You can add weight to make an implement heavier, but you can’t make the blades thicker by simply adding weight to the top. One of the other differences in models is the height of the moldboard which makes you be able to move more material but also makes them heavier. Some models also have replaceable cutting edges that can be flipped over for more life, and then replaced.

Also, if you have a Quick Hitch don’t forget about that weight.

I have an L so I’m not sure it’s relevant to a LX, but I’m using 6 ft implements with the exception of the RB that is 84 inch. You can always control the depth/force by varying the implement angle, and how far you let it drop.

Unless you can’t lift it easily, I think you are better off with a heavier model.

I looked at Land Pride and didn’t like the clips they use to hold the rippers in place. Pins that go through the ripper seem easier to adjust.

I purchased the Woods land plane before I knew about EA.

After 2 years the paint started coming off in sheets!

I contacted them and had pictures to provide. Response was we can't help you the warranty is one year. I ask could they at least send me one rattle can and I would buy the primer and could repaint it? Nope sorry and you have to expect the paint to come off it is a ground engaging implement. I said the paint is flaking off on parts that have never touched ground, the upper section inside and out where the 3pt. hooks to.

I personally buy EA implements now. They are built like tanks and not one of my EA implements have failed me yet. Yes the lead times can be longer and cost is more in most cases but I like them and are somewhat local to me here in NC.
