I have a LA854 Loader mounted on L5240-HSTC-3 tractor. Since new the loader will stop working when attempting to make multiple moves ie. raise and tilt at the same time. It appears to be something with the control valve. I center the control and then I can tilt the bucket. I've had several mechanics look at the tractor and their answer is "that's just the way it is" It makes digging or hauling bales of hay very frustrating. Any ideas?

If the stock valve is giving you trouble, first, is it still under warranty?

Second, assuming answer is no, you might find that replacing it with an aftermarket joystick valve will solve the problem. Surpluscenter.com can virtually build one to your specs...:D:D

Do you know if the valve is the one Kubota would install on the tractor?
Do you know if it is open center or closed center design?
My experience with open center valves on loaders is that to do as you want to accomplish you have to feather the lift arm lever so that some flow can go to the bucket cylinders. If you open the lift arm valve completely, there is no oil available for the bucket cylinders.

It is not just a question of changing a valve from open center to closed center as it is a complete system design issue. Closed center systems have variable displacement pumps so that when flow is requested by any valve it is available but when no flow is requested the pump can go to a zero flow status.
Open center systems have fixed displacement pumps so the oil always needs somewhere to go. If no control valve is calling for high pressure oil, the flow goes through the open center of the control valve block and back to the reservoir.
