I have a 1996 L2900 (approx 2800 hrs) with a LA 480 Loader.

I was shaking some brush off the loader.
The bucket was in the nearly full dump position as I lifted and lowered the loader.

Once the brush was shaken off I tried to curl the bucket up.
Bucket would not curl up.

Now the loader raises and lowers, even moves about an inch or so to the full dump position.

Does this sound like a cylinder issue
Loader Control valve issue
or something else?

any help would be much appreciated

Vic... thays what I'd say if he was manhandling a big load or using the bucket as a dozer blade under max load. All he was doing was "jiggling the stick" to get the load of brush out of the bucket. Before that it appears it worked fine.

That is what I was doing "shaking" snow off my blade when the valve crapped out. If I had been smart enough then to dismantle and clean the detent spring assemblies held on by 4 cap screws (2 each) immediately after it happened... it would have saved me a lot of time and grief.

Now that is ONE part of the tractor that gets serviced EVERY 50 hours.... Husco even had a service bulletin out on mono block valve Kubota uses.

For what itt is worth.... Butch.

Butch, you may be right, but in my case I was pushing logs and didn't realize I had bent the curl rams when the logs rolled up onto them. Sure felt stupid and no amount of cuzzing made feel better.

Pat... you are are dead balls on target. Ihe real factor here is.... How much of a push/pull/lift load he had on the unit when it crapped out. I had zero load on mine and I only was "shaking" my blade fast in a raised and free position when I scre(*$^ op.

The fix for him could be as simple as removing the 4 cap screws from the spring detent covers on the lower end of the control valve, clean and lube them generously and reassemble.
If he has a Husco control valve mono-block I drilled two 1/8 incg holes in both of mine. One on the lower bottom to drain moisture from the cavity and one on the side near the top to lube regulary with WD40.

I would suggest the gentleman (I can't remember his name) to look un in the archives my "Husco Valve" thread. It could save him 100's of dollars for a valve.

Just to rule out the rams, lay a straight edge on the rod to check them for a bend. That way you know which way to go.

Thanks Vic! You were so correct... the valve was a nightmare:eek:. Ihad almost given up and went so far as to purchase one used from a dealer in the midwest. I got mine fixed the day the new used valve arrived.

I gave $175 for it if anyone is interested in it. I never had it on the tractor... but looks to be in almost new condition with the quick connect fittings in place....

Later all, Butch.

Been in and out of town; haven't been able to look at it.
took a quick look at it today
Great advice.

Cylinders are straight
Control Linkage is working as expected.

Looks like I'm working on the Control Valve.

How do I know if its' a Husco Valve?
(only marking on the valve body is 5005V)
All the part numbers are Kubota Part Numbers.
It appears to be the standard Valve type, Part number on loader matches the part number in the Parts Manual (L2075) (Ref# 75540-6101-2)
.....fixing looks like a pain in the @$$
Butch, where did you get your valve, my valve isn't the same model as yours

If anybody has the WSM for the loader and can post the pages to fix that would be much appreciated

thanks

The easiest way is to go to the HUSCO web site... with HUSCO being the operative search word. Look up the husco monoblock control valve. The picture should look like yours if it is indeed a husco unit. Kubota has a proprietary lock on the stuff husco mfg's for them. That is why you have to go back to Kuboya for OEM and parts...

If it looks like a match send me a private message and we can go from there. In any case we'll post our results on the site for oyhers to learn from.

In yje mean time look into the archives on OTT for my original yhread on the husco problem.... it will get you up to speed more quickly.

Good luck my friend... Butch
