So I got an LA 402 for my tractor. Called messicks and got the main frame and the brace that goes with it. I got the main frame installed and then I just went to install the brace and it seems like the brace arms are 4 inches too short. I called messicks and told them and they said that it’s the correct part number and should fit. They are looking into it further but there has to be another model of brace that has longer arms. Now I’m not sure what to do. Is the brace necessary? I imagine it keeps the main frame from rotating and cracking. This is on a B2710.

I have that LA402 loader on my b2910, same tractor as yours except for the engine. Can't get a picture now but will try later in the afternoon...
I will also measure the length of that piece that looks like it is too short. If there are any other measurements that you need, that do not require me to lay down on the cold ground, I will get them for you as well. Please post what you need specifically, if anything else besides that one piece.
That would be awesome. If you could just tell me how long your brace arm is from the angle point at the front to the end of the arm I would appreciate it. Mine appears to be 27”. I bet yours is about 4” longer.

I think this is my problem. I think they have the brace for the LA402 switched with the brace for the LA302. I think that they sent me the LA302 brace even though I ordered the 402 brace. The 402 brace should take 6 bolts on each side. The one they sent me only takes 3 bolts on each side.

I think I measured the same edge as you did, from the back up to the point where the vertical piece is welded on. Mine is 31.25".

Thanks! Any chance you can send me a pic of where it attaches to the front of your tractor. Where it bolts to the frame below your brush guard?
Is this the area you were referring to? I am guessing you meant a different spot now... where the front assembly attaches to the frame. Cannot picture what it looks like in my mind now, but will be obvious when there. Will take a picture later when I can get back to the tractor...something else going on now.

So it sounds like the OP may have been incorrectly sent the pieces for a LA302...

I am sure they will. They seem to have a good reputation.
Worst case you could dispute it with your CC company if you paid by credit card, but doubt that will be necessary.
