Thanks a lot Dick for the thorough answer! I didnt even know the default 85% aspect ratio was not stated on Ag tires... it's much clearer now :)

Hi again OliG - checking my figures I found a small error in the front/rear travel ratio. I've edited my posts so they have correct numbers.

Your existing R1's are a correct size combination for the L5450. Take care, Dick B

Hello again OliG - I have been in touch with the TBN member in Mississippi who had the skid plate under his l5450. He took it off for oil filter work (left it off) - says it does protect some parts and is a trade-off. My own thought is that the loader frame and cab supports maybe do enough?

I do lift the doors off for summer - nice shade & rain protection for mowing (no a/c). I leave the rear window in place to reduce mower debris coming forward - my place has some poison ivy which I 'm not as immune to as I used to be

Really appreciate the information on the L5450. I'm having the same issue with the 4wheel drive. I did the same search as you. Seems everything on this tractor is a little different than others from that age. I crawled under there tonight, and saw the same huge bracket. I'm always overly cautious and was concerned. So very thankful coming across this thread.
My question is once you dropped the bracket and axel cover, was there anything else different I might run into, compared to the other YouTube videos on the same problem or fairly straight forward?
I have already purchased couplings. I'm not a great mechanic but can do the basics.
