my dpf inhibit switch comes on when i start the engine and can not be turned off. is that normal? if i push the switch with the igniton on. tbd light still stays on. not sure how this switch is suppose to indicate... the engine and tractor operate fine with the light on., i want to know if this is on permanent inhibit mode.
I believe my L4701 was mfg in 2019 but I’m not with it currently and could be wrong. If yours is older or newer referring to your manual may be advisable.
At least so far for my L4701 so long as I increase rpm to steady the yellow blinky light when it blinks at me and don’t throttle down until the yellow light goes out about 15 minutes later there’s nothing to a regen. I had it regen once when running a stationary chipper and it was almost done before I knew it started. I have shut it down 5 minutes into a regen, which is a big no no, I believe, but it blew a hydraulic line and I was being showered with copious amounts of hydraulic fluid so yes, I shut it off without pondering the Tier 4 ramifications. Even then, when restarted post repair two hours later, the regen picked up where it left off and finished normally.
If I did it right, the salient pages of the manual which came with mine should be attached to this post. At least on mine, detailed instructions are also on a rather large sticker in the left fender. If There are a few important points.
1) If regen is inhibited for too long, nasty things start to happen. Alarms start sounding, dash lights flash, and the dreaded limp mode renders your machine an impotent useless victim of Tier 4. I have no clue how long “too long” is and I much prefer to never find out. You MUST make the Tier 4 stuff happy.
2) After about 5 regens, I have no experience with anything other than the auto regen. So I’m not a great source for other and odd scensrios.
3) The manual makes it pretty clear once you get outside auto regen there are a variety of things you can do.You can inhibit (defer to later), do a manual (forced), etc. but at that point your basically running a computer rather than a tractor. There are no redneck good old boy pro tip shortcuts. If you can’t figure it out with the manual, run a forced regen and if that doesn’t make it happy, call your dealer.
I’m pretty sure unless something really odd happens there will be at least two people who will have a conversation on this thread about how thankful the are for their pre-emission old iron. To whoever they are, congratulations. If I had a reasonable alternative, I wouldn’t have Tier 4 either despite having zero problems thus far.
