I know this tread is beat to death but I cant find anything.
1) Over the past months I have to play shifter and put it in and out of neutral a few times to get it to start. (not always but 2 out 5)
2) Getting off the other day it was running not in neutral and it stalled. Thank you safety switch!
3) Went back to start it an no go.
4) Fuse is good. Held down seat kill switch. Bringing battery in to check today.

When I turn the key the Battery and engine oil light come on. Assuming this is normal until it starts.

You clearly hear a mild ticking but does not turn over.
Weirdly after you turn the key off or take it out you still hear the mild ticking for 10 seconds. Not sure if its a solenoid or starter? Why does it continue?

Any help would be greatly appreciated trying to get some spring cleaning done.

Not certain what the ticking is (fuel pump??) but mine operates normally and has done that ticking thing just as you describe the whole time I’ve had it so I’d consider that normal.

You have 2 problems.

1/ The neutral safety switch is messed up somehow with dirt, misadjustment, or something.
2/ Enough battery power is not getting to the starter. Could be a corroded ground or +12V connection.

Fix the safety switch first.
Clean and tighten all the high current connections between the battery and starter.

Thanks for the tip. I went back and thoroughly inspected the neutral turn off switch. One of wires was broken. Very cheap design in my opinion. $45 for a 3" wire dang that hurts.

Glad you fixed it. The pulse clicking is the silver electric fuel lift pump on the engine block.
