I posted this query once before with limited results, looking for cab options for L47 TLB. So far I have found 2, the Curtis hard cab, beautiful but out of the price zone at 10k, and this, at around 2k. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

Other than DYI your options are very limited.

Yup, I have been searching for an hour, not many options. I was hoping someone here had the magical answer.
No magic answer that I know of. I have run a fair amount of equipment with Curtis cabs and they make a nice one. During the 60's and 70's when there weren't many cabs on tractors there were several company's that made them there long gone now. I have been around more than my share of tractors with what I would call plastic cabs. Wouldn't own another the plastic windows get scratched to easy. If it were me on that tractor I would build some metal frames put glass into them and have a tarp company make some panels to fill in for a door and between the windows.

The other option is to take the machine to an auto upholstery shop or a tent and awning shop and you them custom make a soft side cab. It may or may not be cheaper than the other options you have located.

I'm guessing not cheaper.

It depends. You already have a roof with 4 posts. I would think the tent and awning shops could easily make some strap on panels with plastic windows. Couldn’t hurt to ask.

I contacted Sims Cab Depot today. They make cabs for about any Kubota except the L47.
I asked if any could be modified for the L47.

Short answer. No

If you have a 'sun shade' aka roof, maybe consider just adding a windshield ?

I did that for my BX23S,just angle iron and polycarb BUT it STOPS the wind and rain and drizzle from beating me down ! 4 sets of nuts and bolts and it comes off in the Spring.

Worst part, only a few years ago the Curtis cab was just over $5k.

I'm considering a Curtis for my L47. IMO they are the only game in town.

The only issues I've heard about them is the noise inside and the clearance between the top of the steering wheel and the defroster duct.
I'd like to look at one before buying, but haven't located one nearby.

They are pricey but as Mikester points out, there is no free lunch.

I put on the Laurin cab for my M59. Unfortunately Laurin got out of the tractor cab business just before covid lockdowns.

If you decide to put on a cab I'd recommend installing the fire rated noise isolation foam under your floor and under the roof. I honestly think it's a little quieter with the cab than without but it gets freaking hot in the cab in summer if you don't have A/C. Opening windows isn't enough. I get a ton of heat through the floor from the tranny. The foiled foam does help mitigate some of the heat.

On the plus side I can snowblow in my shorts and T-shirt at 0F. On the minus side I can hit +120F in the cab with all the windows open in summer. Thankfully we have a cooler climate here 8-10 months per year.

I have some health issues that limit what I can do underneath the tractor.
What do you think about installing the noise insulation or something like thick stall mat material between the floor and the existing mat?

I blew a main hydraulic line this summer so I had to pull the cab and floor deck off to get at it. It would be impossible on my machine to put the heat shield sound proofing under the complete deck without removing it.

On my M59 the OEM rubber floor mats have push through friction fasteners as part of the matt. Putting something under the mat wouldn't work well. My cab kit came with thick foam floor matting that goes over the OEM rubber matt. It gives you some sound deadening but it doesn't seem to help for the heat problem.

I know some are looking for cabs for your TLB's. Our M62 has a cab. Easy to install, replacement parts are available, and they have quite a few for the different model TLB's. Cover My Tractor is great and it is a quality cab. Everything is made here in the US so there is a lead time. Just check with them what the lead time is. This cab is easy on and easy off. Comes with a storage bag for taking it off during the winter months.

I went to their site and read, " Front windshield ihas glass coating so adding a wiper is no problem. "

Can you explain to me what "glass coating" means?

Well, google says....
Glass coatings are made up of silicon dioxide (SiO2) particles that repel dirt and boost brightness. In simple words, the glass coating is a skinny layer that protects the surface from scratches or any wear down. The SiO2 indicates that the coating contains “pure glass,” which is retained in a liquid in molecular form.
