Putting weight in the front bucket tries to lift the rear end by about the same amount, and effectively doubles the weight on the front axle. Filling the tires and wheel weights will help keep the back down, but doesn't help the front axle. Hanging a thousand pounds on the 3-pt tries to lift the FRONT end, and works best. I don't mean to knock the filled tires - I wouldn't be without them. but the farther back, the better. On my 3200 I filled a medium trash can with concrete, and came up with 600 lbs, which works well with its smaller capacity.

Where did you get the 1000# number from? Is that an amount being used by others with success ? Ive been thinking of pouring a concrete counter-weight for my L4600 myself, just dont know what weight or dimension would be best.
