I recently purchased a L4350 DT with Hydraulic shuttle shift.
The previous owner mentioned something re leaving the PTO engaged. I note the owners manual states "Do not run the PTO clutch in the disengaged position for any period of time premature wear will result on the clutch plate and thrust bearing.
Appreciate if someone can explain the PTO clutch operation.
Thanks,

Let me see if I can put this in simple terms, it has nothing to do with leaving the PTO gears engaged./
It has to do with riding the clutch pedal halfway disengaging the PTO clutch only and not the travel clutch.
It causes the Throw-out bearing to run and overheat.

So no you do not need to run it around with the PTO spinning.

From some further work I believe what you are saying applies to the
MDT (Manual shuttle, dual traction),however the HDT(Hydraulic shuttle, dual traction) and HDT-W (Hydraulic shuttle, dual traction, wet clutch = Ever Clutch) models have a single stage clutch

"On the Ever Clutch type tractor, the drive train clutch is a hydraulically actuated wet type specifically called Ever Clutch and the PTO clutch is of dry, single plate type. The traveling clutch is operated with the clutch pedal, whereas the PTO clutch is controlled with the PTO clutch lever"

There is a completely different angle to using the pto lever.

Since the key to your L series is the exact same key to most if not all L's, some owners were concerned about theft.

By leaving the pto in the on position, the engine wont start and hopefully will cause enough delay for the thief to panic and run.

However, you just turn on the pto lever when the engine is stopped and you are ready to walk away.

Regardless of the type pf pto arrangement you have, NIW's advice is still the one to follow.

None of the L4350 models have an Ever Clutch (EC).
EC is a wet clutch in place of the dry clutch.
The HDT uses a single stage dry clutch, but the MDT and the HDT-W uses a dual stage dry clutch.

Don't want to make a big deal of this but my L4350 here in Australia has "EC" decal on the side. The owners manual shows my stick layout as "L4350 with wet mastertraction clutch (Everclutch). The following from OrangeTractor Talks "getting to know your clutch" below would also seem to verify L4350 with Everclutch.

"KubotaEver Clutch:
The L2650 is an example Kubota that was available with either a wet or dry clutch. L2650s with an Ever Clutch decal were fitted with the longer lasting wet clutch system hence the Ever. Other Kubotas that were branded with this decal and the upgraded clutch were the L2950, L3450, L3650, L4350, L4850, L5450, M5700 and M6800"
