Hello
I just recently had a problem where my 3 point wouldn't go all the way down. I figured that one out. A critter had built a nest and it was interfering with the return of the linkage. While I was in there I figured I would look at things. I manually operated the lever at the case that raises the lift arms. It raised the arms several more inches. Without activating the relief vale. It's as if my control lever needs adjusting as it moves a bit before moving the linkage. I don't see any way to adjust it. Anyone have any hints?

Sorry for the long winded post by the way I had just assumed my tractor didn't lift very high for a long time I'm embarrassed to say how long.
Thanks RD

Sounds like what yer saying is there is some slop in yer lever and it can't get things all the way up before ya hit the relief?

Well, it can happen to the bestavus...

{really bad joke mode /off} :D

However, the crux of the joke is actually true, there is too much slop in your linkage and there might be some adjustments or tightening of nuts (nope, not back in joke mode so don't go there!), cotter pins, set screws, etc. you should look at. I'm sure NIWolfman can whip out a set of diagrams for you and point out the details of doing the who's and whatsits, so hang tight for the professionals.

Maybe if I slip a blue pill in the tank?

I'm with you the first thing I thought of was a link was worn etc. I really don't see anything that looks like the culprit. It's more of you have to move the lever a bit before it contacts the linkage to move the valve. And the tractor has never lifted the arms very high I just thought it was normal. The only thing I see that I could adjust is the Draft rod I'm just not sure how it works so I'm reluctant to move it. It is alined to the lift arm per the manual. Could the parts have been miss-marked at the factory? Possible I guess.
Thank you for the reply! I'll keep working on it.

Thanks,
RD

Make sure you get the blue PILL marked DIESEL.....them gasoline blue bills have been known to cause problems......ok - enough of that :)

Watch the draft rod and the stops on it......if I understand you - the draft ride should have two places to adjust - top and bottom of the travel,
watch the rod slide back and forth as you lift - pre-mark them before moving them and see if you can get it up higher , BEFORE the bypass kicks in.

Now on your machine the set up may be different than what I am describing ......however the overall concept is the same. :)

85Hokie,

Thanks for the reply. If i understand you correctly you are referring to the lever that activates the pressure relief valve at the top of the lift arm stroke. I think that is set okay. The arms won't raise high enough to hit the relief. I can manually move the lever coming out of the tractor case and then lift the arms much higher and eventually activate the pressure relief. On the other side of mine is another rod. I think it's part of the draft control. I can't post a diagram of it. I also tried to copy the link of the Kubota parts diagram and I get an illegal reference.

This is the drawing reference I copied from K-PAD: T11300 DRAFT AND POSITION CONTROL LEVER 1 [OPTION] ## L4200DT-GST. The part I'm looking at is 310 and 290, if I change the index on 290 it will move 310 back contacting the lever sooner. Just not sure what else I don't understand I'll be monkeying with. The manual doesn't say anything about adjusting it.

Thanks and have a good day,
RD

the arms NOT raising high enough to hit the relief ......sound to be a less simple problem now:( .....

your drawing did not come through on my end......

something - bent or out of adjustment is keeping the arms from raising to 100% of the travel....

you have checked fluid level?:)

That is not the three point feedback that is the draft control linkage, yes it too will effect the three point drop if you have the draft control adjusted wrong.

Maybe I'm reading that PDF wrong, but it looks like the only adjustment in that linkage might be part #290, which appears to be a splined offset cam of some type. That would affect where the top and bottom of the selector lever would sit, which might be an issue if moving the selector lever beyond it's current captured travel would make the lift go higher and if it bottoms out well before the selector lever hits the bottom of its captured position.

You could probably test that theory by undoing the lever and moving the pivot with some vice grips clamped on the point where the lever was connected. This would take the lever travel restrictions out of the picture and demonstrate if the linkage was aligned properly.

I would be surprised if that was the problem, it would mean either the factory tech goofed or someone messed with that splined cam after the fact.

Or I could just be reading that entire diagram wrong and this post is utterly worthless.

Okay somebody hand me the dunce cap. I have been under the impression that the three point position control adjustment only set the opening of the relief valve at the top of travel. I figured what can it hurt to try it. I can always set it back where it was. So after loosening 2 12mm nuts and a little tweaking for the first time in many years I have lift arms that are set correctly.

So thank you all for your time and help. Maybe some day someone can learn from my slowness.

Thanks again,
RD
