Hey guys. Just joined this site. Been a dedicated Kubota owner for 22 years. Have a 1994 Kubota L2350 4x4 with 310 original hours. I'm trying to decide on a L4060 Hstc or a M7060. I will be mostly mowing with a finish mower and bush hog. I have 20 acres to keep clean with a 3 acre pond. Some timber. Wanted to hear some input. Kind of worried about the hst vs the hdc12.

The M series is an AG/utility tractor. I think in this case, I would recommend the L4060 HSTC. Are you getting a loader?

The M would enable you to go to a bigger finish mower... even a batwing type, if you can afford one... while the L would require something smaller. On the other hand the HST on the L is about as good as it gets once you learn all it can do. The L4060 is great, but for your acreage I'd favor a few more ponies under the hood... L4760 or larger.

We have an L5740HSTC as well as M8540HDC 12/12 hydraulic shuttle and for your needs my choice hands down would be the L4060HSTC.

I was thinking I would like the 7060 better. I will be getting a loader with 3rd function on it for a grapple. For the guys with the hdc12's do you cut in mid range higher gears? Thinking about getting a 7ft mower behind it. Thanks for the input guys. TripleR...what makes you say 4060 hstc hands down?

I moved up this year from the L3200 to the Grand L 4060 HSTC. I absolutely love it. I maintain about the same land you do minus the pond. All my implements are 6' and the 4060 handles it with power to spare. Love the roomy cab and locations of controls.

My vote is for the 4060 for obvious reasons. It's a great size tractor.

Several years experience using both. The L is more maneuverable, easier to mount/dismount, less tiring after a long day a bit more fuel efficient, easier to service.

We use grapples on both and get better control with the HST. It is pretty hard to modulate precise maneuvers with the hydraulic clutch without using the clutch and brakes together.

Don't get me wrong, I love the M8540, but we have 80 acres on the farm where it lives and need a minimum of 10' cutter. I've looked at the 7' mower and wouldn't have one, 8' dual spindle would be my preference.

I just don't see your property and needs pointing to a M Series. Yes, it will work and do all need, my choice would just be the L.

I just didn't want to get the 4060 and wish I'd got the 7060 instead. 80% of my tractor use will be mowing grass. We keep it pretty much golf course medium. I see uses for both as you guys are stating but I'd hate to want to pull a 10-12ft mower And then I don't have enough hp.

I have one other question....? What grapple would you guys recommend and what size? I've been looking at the wicked grapple and the rake master. Both look well built. What prices did y'all pay if u don't mind?

All this stuff is really a balancing act time-money- present needs-possible future needs etc.

Are you talking finish mower or rotary cutter? If 10'-12' rotary cutter, go price one that might help put it into focus. I have no problem cutting 20 acres with my 6' rotary cutter, sure a 10' is faster, but is the time/cost sufficient to justify?

I'm sure the Wicked grapple is a good choice, I went with a different brand, but really don't have a lot of experience with them, only owned them a couple of years.

L4060 should be plenty for 20 acres, M7060 would be overkill I would think. M series is longer and wider and would not be suitable to such a small piece of property

Ordered a L4060 HSTC ...hope to have it by Tuesday. Most all of my land is wide open fields. That's why I'd like the M better but I think with other chores in mind that the L is better.

The new Grand L's are about as good as it gets. Post a photo or two when it arrives!

With the smaller tractor I'd go with the EA grapple over the Rake Master because it is a lot lighter. With the Rake Master about half of your loader capacity would be used just with the weight of the grapple. If you're not going to use it much or just using it to move some brush you may want to look at the Greens Machine Thumb or Precision Mfg Add-a-Grapple that you bolt onto the bucket.

The options are 3rd function Hyd valves. Tractor is pretty much loaded. I will be buying a 72" land pride rotary cutter and a 72" finish mower. Looking at buying the piranha bar and wicked grapple. As long as whatever I buy will pick up a decent sized log I'll be happy.if the grapple won't get it I guess I'll go back to bucket n chains

You will love the third function, I added mine later, didn't think I would need it. I have TnT, so I added three rear remotes. I've got a bad back, so I put an air ride seat in it.

I really like the LP equipment.

Enjoy your new machine.

The only thing that irks me is the 60 series grand L loader quick couplers and hoses are on the exterior side of the boom. Ass nine placement!

If my hose were like that, I would have torn some off by now or built a guard.
