Alright folks, I need advise.
Got a steep road that needs graded, using a land leveler I would like to get a 6' leveler. Would the l3901 Gear drive pull a 6' leveler well? All I have right now is a 16' ft 7K trailer. I am not planning to get another trailer, would the L4701 be too much for the trailer? Its hard to find specs on the loaders. This is my first tractor and would appreciate all the advise I can get. The l3901 would be more suitable for all my other tasks.

Tractor/Loader ONLY
QA Loader, 4x4, GEAR drive, R4 ballast tires
COSTS:
l3901 = $21,700
l4701 = $24,700

Note that they both come with the la524 loader

Guys that tried both tractors, what helped you decide, money? size?

The L4701 is quite a bit more tractor than the L3901. At about 500lbs heavier, all of it's ratings are bumped up about 500lbs also, that includes the loader which should be the LA765, not the LA525. Has std features that are options for the L3901.

I am not a Kubota guy, just looking at the info on the Kubota website.

For only $3k more, I would go with the L4701 if it were me.

Good luck with your decision.

I bought the L3901 about a week ago and so far have excavated a 12' tall bank and graded it down so I could drive the mower up and down it, keep in mind this is in red clay, very hard to dig in. I think You'd be fine with the L3901 and use the 3k to buy more attachments. I got mine with LA 525 loader and BH 77 back hoe, R4 tires ballast filled, HST, 4WD, QA 66" bucket.

Welcome to OTT Shrimp. I would definitely go with the L4701 as you will find that the more tractor will be used from time to time. The increased height and weight lift of the L4701 loader is well worth it, not to mention the increased 3pt lift capibility.

I've found at least for me tractors are like sheds or garages, to get the right one go bigger than you think you'll need. I went shopping for a 35HP to supplement our M8540 and got a 50HP and was sure glad I did.

Fellows, I appreciate the advise. I too think bigger tractor is the way to go. My wife seems to say otherwise. Do any of you guys know how long and weight of the L4701 with loader?

Just for others who may read this post later. I have property just outside Branson Mo in the Ozark Mtns with a very steep road that sometime washes and seems to always require maintence. I considered both the 3901 and 4701, both with R4 tires. I was (and am always) concerned about performance on slopes. There is not a level place on my road and even one place which is very steep where the road turns 90 degrees. When I discussed this with the Kubota dealer, he told me that he would put them side by side and I should compare the footprint of both. I was suprised how much wider the 4701 was and how, even though larger, the CG seemed to be lower than the smaller tractor.
Look at them side by side from the rear before you decide. Best Wishes
