I am looking for recommendations for weighting the rear end. I have the L3901DT with R4 industrial tires. Rear tires are filled to 75% capacity - I also added 1.5" spacers increasing the width if the machine 3".

With the LA525 FEL and my 6' box blade on the back, I am still light in the rear.
A full scoop of dirt or gravel and I will lose traction. Want to add some weight, but don't want to over do it either. I'm guessing the bb weighs in at 250# - it's not a wimpy one.

How much weight do others use on the 3 point as ballast?tick of ra
I have a 6' stick of railroad track that I plan to cut and weld to the BB.

You want about 1200 lbs to 1500 lbs off the three point. ;)

I have 1000 lbs on the rear wheels and all I can say is the L3901 loves rear weight. You will notice the improvement immediately.

Like others have said, a 1000lbs +. My box blade weighs almost 600 lbs and that's not enough to take advantage of the available loader capacity.

My L2501 handles a LA525 loader of topsoil well. In NE GA our topsoil has a fair amount of clay mixed with it. It is not full of organic matter. The L2501 should be similar in weight and dustribution to your L3901. I usually have A BB that weighs 360 lb along with a quick hitch that weighs 70 lbs on the back. My R4 tires are loaded as well. No loss or traction or feeling tippy. I have moved almost 3 tandom truckloads of dirt in the past couple of weeks. The quick hitch does move the BB back 4.5 inches.

I could always use my tiller as a counter ballast if needed. It weighs 693lbs.

I have not moved gravel. So I can not speak to that.

I found some chunks of lead that I add when needed. 4 block plus a 60 inch areator was all my 3pt wanted had to take the 5th block off

To your question not sure what weight you need but I have the bigger cousin L4600 and I built a carryall to use for ballast and among other things.

The carryall I suspect weighs in around 200#'s, I filled (5) 5 gallon buckets with scrap blocks and cement weighing in at 80#'s each and then added 150#'s of gym weights under carryall for a estimated total weight of 750#'s. The buckets I can take off when not needed and they store easily with lids on each one.

This seems to work well for my setup.
