L3901 Hydro Clutch disc

[Tractor Tech]

I use a rototiller on my tractor quite a bit. At 4300 hours, I lost the clutch. When I split the tractor, I expected to see disc parts or a burned clutch. I found the disc was turning on the hub. The hub isn't rivited to the hub.
My question, is there any reason that I can't put a rivited disc in the tractor?

It sounds like you are contemplating using a clutch disk that is NOT factory?

I do not have any experience with this, but I do recall that any attempt to “resurface” a pressure plate will ultimaly end in failure, so exptrapolating this idea further, I “highly doubt” that a “substitute disk" is a good idea…..

But I was wrong “once” before….

I'm sure someone that actually "knows something" will be along shortly to confirm/deny my suspicions though….

Guys, yes, I am thinking of using an aftermarket disc that has a rivited center. The OEM disc doesn't have rivjts and failed at the hub. Is there a reason that Kubota may not use a rivited disc on a hydro transmission? Or is this just a different way of assembling a disc?

I would not go with a riveted clutch
That clutch is designed differently that a riveted clutch and you could very easily do damage to the HST.

#1 that's very likely not oem that you have there.
And no there is no reason you can't use a disk with a riveted hub.

Based on pictures from Colemans and a couple other dealers thats 100% OEM.

Yes, folks, it is identical to the disc I pucked up today.
I went with the Kubota disc after all. I was concerned about the hydro transmission and this disc.
By the way, no pilot bearing on this setup, so I'm guessing it 'floats' a little for the hydro.
Old disc lasted 4300 hours, so I fuess not bad for the heavy use. I'm just not used to a clutch center failure with no visible signs.
