Sounds like some HD stealers I have heard of. And yes for what ever its worth, I would be dropping nasty grams to who ever is in charge of your Kubota selling area. And some may think it bad form but you might drop the stealer,, errr dealers name just sayin

Just to keep everyone updated. I told the dealer I was going to take the tractor back home and try some other fixes before I shelled out 10k for them to fix it. They got really defensive and didn't want to give me the paperwork on what they had performed so far. So another major red flag. Also, I asked them if they would perform a diesel contamination test and they said no.
To answer some of the other questions that have been asked: I have probably gone through at least 10 tanks of fuel since this issue started, that's why I thought the "gas in the tank" diagnosis was fishy. I recently changed the fuel filter and air filter. I believe the last DPF regen was a month or so ago. It seems to regen 2-3 times per year. I usually run it at high rpms to keep the DPF clean.
And somehow I’m not surprised at the behavior of the dealer. Did you actually see the “dyno”?

The fact that they wouldn’t have a $70 fuel contamination test (that they could charge you for) to confirm a $10k diagnosis speaks volumes about their integrity and their interest in being sure they were treating this problem and you appropriately. But hey, they did do the rag burn test…

Can't help but think 10 grand was their "we don't want to do it" price. I wouldn't let that dealer touch my wheelbarrow.
Years ago a guy topped off a MF175 with gas. It was belching out some grayish smoke. Drained and refilled with diesel, back to work. I logged quite a few hours on that tractor, wish I had one for bush hogging.
YMMV

With attitude like that from the dealer, I would be careful to make sure that they didn’t put some gasoline into your fuel tank intentionally to make their so called diagnosis valid.
