L3901 Backhoe attachment Cost/Worth it?

I'm one week in with BH77 and obviously on the PRO side as I just bought mine. Have LOTS of rocks like Tarmy in post #13 above. In just 4 days, I dug out a 3' red oak stump from 120' tree w/ large root ball mound that has been in my way since Hurricane Sandy in 2011! I also have moved embedded rocks in my cutting area that I couldn't get with hand digging, pry bars and my jeep tow strap (don't laugh - it works for some pretty big ones...) cleared a ditch and opened up one of my trails.

I have already mentally doubled the #of projects over my initial assessment.

It's an attachment that I would really miss if I got rid of it. I don't use it all the time, but it sure helps out around the house (16 acres) when I need it! Only the OP can put a price tag on that convenience.

My BH77 is on the back of my L2501 all the time except during winter. If you're able to leave it on all the time, you have a great counterweight for heavy lifting, and you'll use it for the "one scoop" jobs like removing shrubs *and* the big stuff.

Now, if you envision running 3-pt implements on a very regular basis, it'll feel like a chore to take it on and off for the 'small' jobs, and it'll collect dust.

I can't disagree with that. I leave mine on pretty much all the time, but have had it off for tilling, box blading and using the land leveler. It really is aggravating to swap back and forth from the backhoe to the 3-point hitch. I find attaching and removing the 3 point hitch the worst of it all.

I used to think removing the 3pt on the L3901 was a bit of a pain.. then I got an MX5400 / BH92. I think one 3pt arm on the MX5400 weighs as much as both arms on the L3901.
