L3901 Advice

Hey all, on the hunt for an L series as an upgrade to an ancient 8N and ran into this ad for an L3901 without loader. Price is pretty attractive but does it look like there is damage to the front end? Not sure if it’s just me but something looks off:

Could be the fish eye making things look funny but the steering wheel, ROPS and the seat are a little "off", too...

Camera angles can distort but sure looks like the left, (as sitting in operators seat), front wheel and tire is "toed out" considerably.

It could just be the odd angle of the picture but, it does look like something could be tweaked. I’d request additional pictures from the seller and an explanation regarding the condition.

Do you need a loader? If so, I’d caution against purchasing a tractor without one.

Define attractive price, Hours? Gear or HST?
Agree with the camera angle. But definite scratch/dent on the hood. Tires are abnormally worn, ran on pavement a lot.
Also agree add budget for a front end loader if possible

It does look like it may have been rolled on to its right side, look closely for any damage on that side. Also, if a tractor is rolled certain precautions are necessary to prevent damage to the engine before starting the first time after an upset.

Hood crease as already noted plus it looks like the front wheels are toe out a bit. Again, could be camera.

To answer some of the Q’s, it has 1200 hours , is HST and is priced at <10k which is pretty low so assuming it accounts for what we may be seeing here in the pics. I’m fairly certain it was used commercially.

Yes would eventually like a loader and plan to have one installed.

Going to ask the seller straight what known issues are before driving 3 hours to check it out.

Price one out before making that drive. You're looking atg 5K or more to add a loader.

Were I shopping for one, that's a hard pass just based what few visuals there are. Especially without a loader. If it never had one on it, what was tractor used for?

Right taillight is canted down....even looks a different size, could be the angle.

Forward most frame cross rail has a bend in it too.

I bought an old BX without a loader. Then added a loader. I think I was $2K for the tractor, $8K for hte loader. But a 15 year old tractor with a 1 year old loader is still a 15 year old tractor. The loader devalued by $6K the day I put it on the tractor. It was fine for me, I got a bargain on the tractor, and I did all right when I sold it. But I should have bought a tractor with a loader.

I think the frame at the front is bent, rather than the tractor. Mine is also bent on my B2601, I think I dropped a tree on it. That might account for the hood crease too. Those are both cosmetic only. The front wheels may be toed out, but might be the angle. I'd go look at it in person.

If the tractor has been rolled onto its side, it could have very easily done damage to the emissions system and that's not cheap to fix!
Also as stated by others buying a tractor without a loader is a real crap shoot finding an available loader, and almost never cheap.

I'd ask for a lot more pictures, and explanations before driving 3 hours ...
