Is there someplace I can find a wiring diagram for all the safety switches on my tractor? Got my new tractor home yesterday and after using it for half an hour, getting on and off several times while moving stuff around, it died when I got off the tractor. Got back on and hit the starter and the starter acted like it was not getting full voltage. Wiggled several things and it fired right off. This happened several times and am thinking I've got a switch that needs adjusted.

Thanks in advance!

apeckham,

The dealer has or can order the entire manual. It's spendy but if you want the references, it has a wiring diagram in it. I have used ours a lot.

Seat switch is a pain. I planned to disconnect mine but it hasn't been a problem. Tractor must be in neural and PTO off or the seat switch will cut off the engine when you stand up.

HST peddle is another switch location, the peddle has to be centered before ya get off the tractor, or start it, rock it a little if it wont start. All this should be in the owners manual.

I tied the seat switch down. Used the tractor for an hour and must have been on and off a dozen times and it never shut off.

I'm sorry if this offends anyone, but I completely disagree with overriding safety switches!
While you may think you are completely competent to never do the "wrong thing" others might not be, friends, kids, grandkids, wife.
It's that "one" time that ends in tragedy and there is no going back at that point!
While I agree that some safety features are a little over done, it's those features that make our tractors safer for everyone around us also.

Are you getting on and off with PTO engaged? That's the only time mine will shut down, otherwise I'm on and off mine while its running all the time.

The gentleman that put my JD back together would not do so unless he could install a safety switch so that it wouldn't start in gear. A kid of friend of his had started a tractor once that was in gear and it plowed thru the side of the barn with the kid on board, it did not end well is all I will say.

Flip the seat forward when you get off if you're running the PTO.

Tractor will not shut off when PTO is on if you lift the seat when getting off. Also, mine will not shut down if it's at idle with PTO on and seat left down.

Inspect the HST neutral switch for proper adjustment. It is a common problem for the switch plunger to to require additional adjustment. Move the switch closer to the lever that engages it.

Balvar and yourself are stating the same thing but how does that work?

Isn't it doing the same thing when you get up from the seat, moving the position of the switch up, as it would if you get up then flip the seat forward?

I'm not saying it doesn't work, don't get me wrong, I guess I'm just having a hard time understanding how it works.

Other than the HST neutral switch are there any other difference in the manual and HST safety features?

It's pretty nice here today, so I going to try what's been suggested when I get home, my interest has been peaked.

Hst models have a an Hat neutral switch. Manual models have a range (H-L-R) neutral switch. Both have clutch pedal safety switches. HST switches are notorious for poor factory adjustment and the connector on the switch coming apart. Jiggle the harness end of the switch-anything other than tight and snug - replace switch.

Okay, I had to try and lift the seat with the PTO on and it did not shut off, but when I leave the seat down it does shut off.

Why is this? Clearly I don't understand how the switch works, can someone enlighten me?

Actually, I'm glad it works now I can get off while mowing and not turn off the PTO. I mow my yard with mine and it will certainly be handy when I need to pick up debris or what not. At the same time if someone else uses it they will kill it If they try to get off without knowing the trick.

There is a switch to know if the seat is flipped. Conceptually, not sure why it's only ok to have the pto run when the seat is flipped.

I would not ever want to get off the tractor with the PTO engaged and turning a mower!

The reason for the tractor to run with seat flipped and PTO engaged is to
run a wood splitter, chipper, generator, etc...

That makes sense, thanks.
