L3800 Converted to Grand L lift arms

After considering my options.....Pat's quick hitch, 3 pt quick hitch, etc. I thought the Grand L lift arms with telescoping ends would work best for me and the equipment I have.

Only minor modifications required to the stabilizers that Mark had made for me..........also a big thanks to Mark for his guidance on this project.

Yep, when you pull up on those levers at the end of the lift arms you get another 3" or so extension with some flexibility to hit the pin. Get hooked up, back up a bit with some resistance on the implement, and they lock in place.

Wendol, I have a L3200 and have wondered if it was a possible to convert to the lift arms with the telescoping ends. If you don't mind sharing part number and cost, I'd appreciate it. Was it a simple swap of lift arms or were modifications necessary? Also, are they the same length as the original lift arms? I am wondering how the new lift arms would affect pto driveline length(s). Thanks!

The new lift arms add approx 1" inch in length

The lift arms I used are the same arms used on the L3130, L3430, L3240, L3540, and L3560....See Messick's website for parts diagram.

The arm(s) are not sold as a complete unit, as it takes 8 part numbers to make up an arm. As an example here are the part numbers for the Left Side:

The price for one arm from my local dealer was $477.00, Earlier I had found the right arm on Ebay for $168.00. Salvage yards were of no help at all.


The only modification requires a shorter turnbuckle/stablizer assembly.

Several months ago Mark Hodge made me a set of his telescoping stabilizers for my L3800, and I never got around to installing them. As it turned out I was able to use them on this conversion, by cutting off approx 1.5 inches the telescoping parts, and they work like a charm.

Before I stumbled on the modifying Mark's stabilizer, I was searching for a way to stay with the turnbuckle style. And the only source I could find was Cleveland City Forge in Wellington, Ohio....super helpful folks there at a reasonable price.

Thanks for your very detailed reply! I will have to look into this. I too got a set of telescoping stabilizers from Mark Hodge within the last year and they make changing implements so much easier than dealing with the turn buckles. As I get older, I am looking for every advantage I can to make things a little easier. Thanks again!
