So I had an accident, it was dumb and I'm ok. But I'm going to need a new dash. The tractor was running even after the crash but when I stood up it keep trying to cut off like it does when the PTO is running. The PTO was off during the accident. Now it won't crank. I have taken the dash off and removed all the broken glass etc. And don't see any wires pull (from what I can see) . I had to leave in a rush so it is sitting in the field. When I push the seat down there is click but nothing when I turn it over. Dash lights come on and gas gauge works.

I was thinking it must be something with the PTO wiring since it wanted to cut off right have the accident. But I don't know what it could have hit that is on the top of the dash.

Any help would be great

Thanks

That's probably not the best way to carry a pole! :p

Look at the start relay it is located behind the panel, or possibly the switch on the PTO lever.

Yea it was a big tree that flipped off the loader. It got hung up in some vines when I went to move. It was a dumb rushed move that could have turned out much worse.

Sorry to see your machine.

Ditto what Wolfman said.

Check clutch switch, seat switch, couple of 5A fuses in the Operator Presence Control (OPC) circuit, PTO gear in OFF.

Then OPC timer.

Where can I get a good wire diagram? I have searched but haven't found one to see what the relays are on the top of the dash. Since this is he area of damage that's all I can think it is. I am hung up on it being a PTO wire issue since when i stood up the tractor tried to shut off.

My L3901DT will shut down if the forward/reverse lever isn't in neutral when I stand up.

Behind the dash will be the relays and the OPC timer.
the connection from the PTO switches and the seat switch both go to the OPC timer, if it's cutting out really quickly then the OPC timer might be damaged. ;)

For a wiring schematic you will need to get the WSM, I don't know of a cheap or free copy that you can download. :(

Is your L3800 an HST, or is it a manual transmission? Some difference in circuit components.

OK, looks that the diagram is in the last post.

I would get a good printout(s) and use a highliter to trace out what you find, using voltmeter and/or bulb test.

If I were in the spot of trying to get the tractor back out of the field, with knowledge that bypassing the safety circuits could have deadly consequences, the circuit shows where to put a ground conductor and a live conductor to bypass the safety.

Otherwise, I would tow it back with another vehicle. Or put a tarp over it to diagnose in field. But it looks that the rear bonnet will need to come off to get to the components if that's what is damaged.

If your tractor is an HST make sure there isn't something binding up the forward reverse pedal or your cruise control lever, you may have hit one of the two on your quick dismount during the accident. Don't overlook the obvious like I normally do when I'm stressing

Be sure to look at your starter and make sure no wire has inadvertently fallen off of it. That left me stranded for 4 hours once.
Also, check the safety switch for correct adjustment on the lower part of the steering shaft. This is the forward/reverse limiter (safety) switch.
These are the easiest things to check first before wading in too deep. ;)

Update. It was the neutral position switch for the pedal. I bent the tap up a little and good to go. New dash and glass should be here next week. Only out about 160$ is what it is looking like. Thanks for the help.
