New member. For years there seems to have been a sweet spot in my ignition switch that if I carefully turned the key would start the tractor. Seems its completely gone now. The battery is fully charged but no matter how carefully I turn the key all I get is a click and the dash lights but no starter. As a non-mechanic, my first inclination is to order a new ignition switch. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

That seams like a good place to start.

If it's that finicky and you've been fighting it for years it probably has worn out the rest of the way. A new switch would probably be a good start toward a solution, in fact it probably IS the solution.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I'll get a new switch and report back.
It's helpful to have a second and third opinion.

Before you start to disassemble
1. Check connector plug on left side near clutch petal for corrosion or high resistance Wires for starter are here and safety switch
2. Bypass clutch safety switch on left side platform near clutch under cover
3. Use remote start switch between solenoid and starter to verify adequate voltage and current. If ok trace wires to connector and switch for short or broken wire

Thank you. I appreciate the helpful instructions. I'm sure this will be easy the second or third time I try it. Sounds like I might be able to start the tractor this way if current and voltage is sufficient which would be helpful as its currently parked in a very awkward spot for performing maintenance.
